Eli stared at him in shock, as Fate asked:"What do you mean with that?"
"Does anyone have a hair tie, so Eli can tie her hair up?", the officer asked in response.
As Fate started to look through her bag for a tie, Eli complained:"I'm here too, don't talk about me as if I wasn't!"
Brooks sighed and replied:"Shut up, sit down. You're going to listen and do what I tell you."
"Forget it", Eli laughed.
"Why?", the man continued," do you have something to hide?"
"Fine!", the white haired girl groaned and let herself fall onto the nearest chair.
Just a few moments later, Fate handed her a dark red hair tie. Eli groaned as she pulled her hair back into a ponytail, revealing an undercut. Fate stared at her in silence for a few moments, then shook her head in disbelieve.
"You were in class", she said quietly.
"Don't want to miss anything", Eli replied coldly.
"Fate?", Brooks asked carefully.
The girl just nodded in reply. As tears started to fall down her cheeks, her boyfriend carefully put an arm around her shoulder.
Jamie Brooks pulled out handcuffs again, Eli didn't even flinch as he tied her wrists to the chair.
"Now what?", she asked, seemingly bored.
"Now we'll have another nice little chat. And you better not lie this time", the officer declared.
Eli sighed and looked down at her hands. "This really sucks. I don't lie", she said , as she moved her wrists around inside the cuffs.
The officer answered:"I can tell that you dislike this still, even though you try to act tough. I also do not believe that you don't lie."
"Great work sheriff", the girl hissed," what do you want to know?"
"Fate, you two can go outside. But stay around, just in case I need to ask you a few more questions", the man ordered, ignoring the white haired girl.
As Fate and Gabriel left the room, the girls locked eyes for a second. Fate felt as if she needed to throw up, the dark look Eli shot her felt like a punch in the stomach.
As the other two teenagers left the room, Brooks sat down opposite of Eli. "How did you get out of the cell?", he asked his first question.
The girl sighed and focused on her hands again. After a few moments, she looked up again smiling and replied:"Kinda like this."
She then just pulled her wrists upwards, and her hands were free again.
"How did you just do that?", the officer growled threatening.
"This mechanism isn't too hard and when you get your hands in the right position, you can pull them out", Eli replied and rubbed her wrists with her hands," same thing with the door."
"How did you get around the lie detector?", Brooks asked sour.
"I can control my body, as long as I feel free enough to do so."
"Why are you that uncomfortable with touching?"
"I don't know", the girl sighed," I just panic. End of the story."
"Why did you kill Ashly?", Brooks asked, his eyes and voice dark with anger.
"I have no reason to kidnap, hurt or kill someone. It wasn't me", the girl growled back.
"Safe your lies for someone who will believe them", the man yelled.
"I'm not lying!", Eli replied loudly.
"Why did you kill Ashly?", the man asked, after a few more moments of silence.
Eli pulled the hair tie off again, but didn't reply. The pressing silence in the room seemed to last forever, but just a few moments later, the door opened.
"We need both of you out front right now", Lisa Jaly said, then took a deep breath. She seemed to have run for quite a distance.
Brooks pulled Eli along by her wrist, the girl complained:"Why do I have to come too?"
"Well, first off", the policeman explained bitter," I'm not leaving you in a room alone if you can just get out of handcuffs. Second, Lisa said you needed to come too, so you're coming. We'll see."
In front of the station, there was chaos. The first thing Eli saw was a lot of uniformed officers. They stood around something, or someone, in a close circle. As Brooks pushed the girl between the other officers too, Eli got caught by a boy.
"You can't be serious", she groaned, as she saw who caught her.
The boy laughed and replied:"Well, I am tho. You want candy?" With that he pulled out a small pouch and offered the girl a lollipop.
"Taime", the girl sighed," what did I tell you?"
"No sweets?", the boy asked with a smile on his face. Eli shot him a dark look, causing him to laugh and continue:"I know, I know. You said to stay out of trouble."
Before Eli had the chance to reply, Brooks put his hand on the girls shoulder, holding her in place. "I'm assuming you two know each other?", he asked, the man sounded annoyed and angry.
Taime's smile turned dark, as he said:"I'd actually not touch Ali. She's poisonous."
"There's no way that's possible", Jamie replied calmly," Do you know each other?"
"How couldn't I know that Joker?", Eli sighed in reply. Then she continued:"Take the damn cloak off, the literal only thing to see from you is your mouth."
The boy sighed and mumbled:"You're no fun!" But he did as Eli told him to.
The whispers around the kids stopped as Taime was doing so. The boy wore a light green polo, light jeans with tears around the knees. His eyes had a similar look to Eli's. They went from green to blue. His long, white hair was tied back into a bun, his undercut seemed to be growing out a bit. Just like Eli, his skin seemed to glow in the sunlight.
"You need to get your hair cut soon", Eli remarked.
"We could have done so, but we couldn't find the scissors and you weren't around", the boy hissed back sour.
Brooks asked:"Who is 'we'?"
"Us two, moron", Eli replied sour.
Brooks pulled her along back inside the station again, Taime didn't seem to be needing anyone to restrain him. He was jumping around Eli and the officer like an excited little kid.
