on thursday, calum hood, the bassist of 5 seconds of summer, posted a video on twitter in which the rest of his band retweeted, adding comments. luke hemmings, the main singer and guitarist of the band, added:

fans freaked out immediately once the video was reposted, the hashtag #vuke trending on multiple sites. no members of the band, nor vincent ripley or his close friends, have said anything about the situation since. however, they didn't need to — once you watch the full video with audio, it becomes clear what exactly happened.

luke hemmings asked vincent ripley to be his boyfriend, which came as a big shock to his fans. he never came out as gay or bisexual, and has not commented on his sexuality. members at buzzfeed have contacted him for anything, but he has yet to respond.

is this simply a (very, very late) april fools joke, are they playing with the internet, or did it actually happen?

vincent ripley has been out as gay online for several years now, so we clearly know his sexuality in this, unlike someone else's. if it is a joke for vincent, then it's an absolutely awful joke to pull on a gay man, especially since there has been a lot of sexual tension between the pair for a while now.

hopefully, the situation is fully addressed soon. i'd hate for one of my favorite ships to be playing us.
