How did they end up like this? Well, we should start at the beginning....
London, 1868
The commotion in the industrial town could be heard from streets afar. Among the merchants desperate to sell their goods and the people trying to bargain, there was a girl, trying to get away from all the agitation. Desperate to find a quiet spot, she was holding a letter in her hand.
"Alright, you can do this. You just need to talk to him, no big deal. Mister Green, I am Elisabeth Collins from the letter and I would like to aid you in bringing Starrick down. No, I sound boring, maybe I should-"
Well, her thoughts were interrupted by the person she was supposed to meet herself. In front of her stood an indian man, with a warm smile of his face, most likely expecting Elisa.
"Miss Collins, it is good to see you finally. May I ask who were you talking with?"
Oh, God, this is embarrasing. I can't just tell him I was talking to myself, think of something!
"Well, Mister Green, I was uh.... thinking out loud! Yes, I do that sometimes. But I thought we were supposed to meet at your shop..?"
"Yes, that was the plan, the man replied, but I thought it would be nice to show you a few places in London. This way we can discuss the details from the letter, so, shall we?"
The walk with this Henry Green was not as awkward as Elisa expected. He was quite polite and a pleasant company, and everything seemed alright until he approached the subject regarding the whole purpose of this meeting.
"So, Miss Collins, I would like to ask how did you find out about Starrick? And you mentioned something about your mother in the letter..?"
"Well, I will be honest with you Mister Green. My mother has been missing for a few years. She left me when I was 14, and since then I have been trying to reach her again. I was able to find her wereabouts over some months, and it led me to London, more specifically something about Starrick. I want answers from my mother, and I am determined to not let anything stand in my way. "
Although she could barely control the nervousness in her voice, the girl kept her head high and waited for a reaction from the indian man. She would not show any weakness, just like her mother taught her.
"Well I must say, I was not expecting that. But may I ask why did you think to ask for my help?"
"A friend of my mothers, George, said you could be a trustworthy ally. But the question is, Mister Green, will you help me?"
The young man seemed to contemplate for a few moments, then asked the girl:
"I will, on one condition."
Elisa's brow rose is suspicion. This could not end well.
"Miss Collins, what have you heard of Assassins, or Templars?"
And so her journey began.
