Chapter Twenty-One
Willow’s P.O.V:
“So what do you think?” I asked nervously pulling on the skirt of my dress with my left hand, whilst my right hand gripped the small wrapped box. “Do I look alright?”
The fact that this was already my fifth time asking them this was probably why Chrissie and Jenny both rolled their eyes at me.
“You look great, Willow.” Jenny asked. “Stop being so nervous.”
I winced apologetically. I couldn’t help it though. There were a million caged butterflies in my stomach.
“Right.” I said, nodding my head firmly, licking my lips that had grown slightly dry. “Either of you have some lip balm?” I asked.
Jenny reached into her bag and threw her bubble-gum lip balm in my direction for me to catch, whilst Chrissie gave me a flat look.
“You’re stalling.” She pointed out bluntly.
“I know.” I admitted uncapping the lip balm and applying it gently.
“Then go.” She said pointing to my front door.
I hesitated.
Jenny nodded her head encouragingly.
“You two…” I started.
“We’re going to stay hear and raid your fridge.” Chrissie said with a grin.
I rolled my eyes. “Of course.” I expected no less from the pair of them. “Let my Uncle know I’ve gone to Derek’s when he gets back.” I wasn’t worried about leaving the pair of them alone. The worst thing they would do would be to eat the ice-cream supply.
“Have fun.” Jenny called after me as I left.
“Not too much fun!” Chrissie called next making me blush.
“Don’t listen to her. Have as much fun as you want!”
I quickly closed the door behind me after that comment, knowing that my neck was turning bright red at their comments. They really needed to stop doing that.
I’d been to Derek’s house enough times that I knew the way their by heart – which was saying something considering how terrible I was with directions.
When I reached his place I had to fight back an army of nerves once again. I shouldn’t have been feeling nervous going to see Derek and once I saw him I knew some of my tensions would fade.
I probably should have warned him I was coming over today first. It was already nearing five in the evening.
Sucking in a deep breath I reached out to ring the doorbell.
It didn’t take long for the door to swing open, and my hopes of Derek answering were dashed when I saw his father standing there. I pasted a smile on my face anyway. This was my first time coming face-to-face with any of Derek’s family properly since my embarrassing confession at their family dinner.
“Willow.” He greeted in surprise.
“Hi Sam.” I said. “Uh…is Derek in?” I asked hopefully.
