CHAPTER 1

THERE IS A FIRST TIME IN EVERYTHING

I can't name what I am feeling right now, halo halo ang nararamdaman ko habang naglalakad papunta sa bakanteng upuan.

Others go back in their own businesses but the man I met earlier remained looking at me. Hindi ko alam kung dahil ba ito sa nangyari kanina, or talagang trip niya lang ako titigan? But nonetheless, his stare is making me uncomfortable.

Asan na Ali? Asan na yung tapang mo kanina? Akala ko ba itatapon mo siya sa burnham lake?

Binabawi ko na, hindi ko pala kaya. Makasalubong ko lang yung mga mata niyang nakakalunod, naba-blangko na kaagad ako.

Good thing the vacant chair available is quite far from him. At least I won't get to see him because I am sitted on the last row.

Inabala ko ang sarili ko sa pag-aayos ng mga gamit ko ng makarinig ako ng tikhim sa gilid ko.

"Do you need help?" Asked by someone who has a very sweet and gentle voice, I assumed this is a girl.

I prepared my smiling face before looking at her, I already expected a girl beside me but to my surprise, lalaki ang bumungad sakin. Oh my gulay! How many times do I have to be surprised in this university? Hindi ako nainform na mahilig pala ang mga UCians na mang-surprise!

I heard him chuckled when he saw my reaction, "I guess you are shookt. Nakakatulala ba ang kagandahan ko sis?"

"Y-y-you're a b-boy?"

Umiling iling ito sa akin bago sumagot, "No sis, babae po ako."

And then he started laughing like a mad man, at first, I'm confused on whether I should talk to him or not because this is my first time, all of this is a first time for me.

I was homeschooled, from nursery to high school. I never got the chance to make friends because the only people I met is my tutor, my parents, and some of my cousins. Kung hindi nga lang dahil sakanya, hindi ko pa mararanasan yung makalabas at makapag-aral talaga sa totoong unibersidad.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked me

"What is it?"

"What's with the two of you?" Tanong nito sabay nguso sakin at dun sa lalaking hanggang ngayon ay nakatitig pa din sa akin

"Huh?"

"Kanina ka pa kasi niya tinititigan ever since you stepped inside the room," He paused for a moment before continuing, "Tell me, are you both a thing?"

My eyes went wide on what I heard. I can't believe he thinks like that. I don't even know that freak. I started laughing loud when I realized what he asked.

"You are funny" I said to him while still laughing

This is the first time I laughed this loud. I can feel a lot of eyes looking in our direction, maybe wondering why I am laughing so hard.

"Kainis ka girl ah, why you laughing ba kasi?" He said to me pouting "Do I look like a clown?"

I looked at him from head to toe. He was far from looking like a clown, if he didn't approached me earlier aakalain ko talagang lalaki siya. Idagdag mo pa yung naka-ipit niyang buhok, it made him look cuter and at the same time, manlier.

"Nakakatawa ka kasi mag-isip." I answered him honestly

"Sino ba naman ang hindi mag-iisip ng ganun kapag tinititigan ka ng isang Jacob Fajardo"
