"Sorry!" Barry said as he bumped into someone. He was late like usual and was running to a crime scene.

"I swear, Joe, I know he's our best CSI, but he's always late. I don't want to fire him but I may have to one day," David said.

"Just give him time, Captain. He'll be here," Joe replied.

"How's Iris?" David asked.

"She's fine," Joe replied. "She just got a job as a report for Central City Picture News."

"That's great. Good for her," David said.

Barry came rushing up. "Sorry I'm late."

"What's the excuse this time, Mr. Allen?" David asked.

"It was my cab driver's fault. He had this great traffic app, but the app took him the wrong way, like 5 times," Barry answered. "I'm gonna get started."

Barry walks over to the curb and gets on his hands and knees. There was a tire trail left by the thief who robbed the bank. He measures the width of the trail. "The thief used a Mustang Shelby GT500 as the getaway car."

"You got all that just by looking at the tire trail?" Joe asked.

"Yeah," Barry replied. "My cousin owns one. Not that I'm saying he's guilty because he isn't guilty he's innocent. You're not gonna arrest him are you?"

"Barry, the way you can embarrass yourself while working is amazing," said Joe.

Barry ignored him. "There's something else too," he said. He took the pen out of the pocket from a man standing next to David. Barry takes a sample on the end of the pen and sniffs. "Ew." He puts the pen in a bag. "It's animal poop. Cow, I'd guess."

"My dad gave me that pen before he died," the man said.

"Sorry," Barry replied.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Harrison Wells!" The crowd erupted with applause as Dr. Wells gets on the stage. Barry felt happy. He saw Dr. Wells and had his adoptive sister, Iris, next to him.

"Thank you," he said. "I'm Dr. Harrison Wells and I'm the founder of STAR Labs. My team and I have brought the future to us. STAR Labs will bring advancements in power and medicine. That future is here."

"My laptop! It's got my dissertation," said Iris.

Somebody had taken Iris's bag. Barry chased after the man. As he turns a corner, the thief hits him.

"Buddy, you don't have to do this, just give me my friend's bag," said Barry, getting up.

The man hesitates, then hits Barry again. He runs a little further and then climbs a fence.

"Freeze!"
A cop had his gun raised. The thief put his hands up.

Barry was holding a tissue up to his nose to stop the bleeding.

"He caught a mugger, so what? Who is he?" Iris asked.

"Eddie Thawne," Barry replied.

"Oh, so that's Detective Pretty Boy," Iris said.

Barry rolled his eyes. "I'm gonna go up to my lab."

He left Iris alone, went upstairs and turned on the computer.

"Dr. Wells will turn on the particle accelerator at any minute."

He walked over and moved a map, revealing a board that had his mother's case. He began to put stuff on the board.

"I've received word that Dr. Wells has given the order to evacuate the facility."

Barry goes back to the computer and the power goes out. BOOM! The STAR Labs particle accelerator exploded. Barry heads over to the middle of the room and starts to close the window. He looks around and sees his chemicals begin to float over their containers. He looks up again, only to see a lightning bolt strike him and sending him flying into the shelves holding his chemicals. The room fades to black.

Central City Police Department, Kara thought, reading the sign. This is it. She entered the building and went to the front desk.

"May I help you?" the officer behind the desk asked.

"Yes, hi, um, I'm looking for Barry Allen," Kara said nervously. "Is he here?"

"He should be in his lab," the officer replied. He pointed up the stairs. "At the top of the stairs, make a right. From there, just follow the hallway. First room on the left."

"Thank you, officer," Kara said.

She left the desk and went to his lab. As she entered, she saw a puddle of water on the floor and looked around his lab.

"God, his lab is so messy," she said.

Her eyes stopped and widened when she saw a limp figure on top of some shelves that had fallen over.

"Oh my god. Barry!"

Kara raced to his side. She put her hands on his chest and began to slightly shake him.

"Barry, wake up. Help! I need help in here!"

There was a sound of footsteps before the cop from the front desk appeared in the doorway. When he saw Barry, he pulled out his phone and dialed 911.

"I need an ambulance over here immediately. We have an officer down." The cop looked at Kara. "Thank you, miss. You saved his life."

The paramedics entered the room 15 minutes later and loaded Barry onto a stretcher. Kara followed them outside.

"Can I ride with him to the hospital?" Kara asked.

"Sure," one of the paramedics replied.

Kara climbed into the back seat and the ambulance took off.
