Frank. Frank was gone. We had all known it would happen the moment the dwarfs took his piece of firewood, which had been in Hazel's pouch that had a golden clasp.
Days later, Frank collapsed suddenly, and he was gone. Just like that.
Leo stayed in his room.
"If only I had caught them! Argh!" He cried into the damp, loneliness of his room.
He decided he needed something to do, so he went out and took the wii controllers from Annabeth. After a while, he couldn't bear the sight of Hazel sobbing in the corner, watching out at the sky, every few seconds mumbling,
"It's all my fault. It's all my fault. I should know not to use anything shiny on these quests. I should know. It's my fault"
"Annabeth. Can you take the wheel?" I asked her.
"Yeah, sure." She replied. As I went toward the doorway, I stopped Percy.
"Are you alright? I know you were next to him when it happened." I asked him. He nodded glumly and walked away.
Flashback
He was working, tinkering with metal objects, not really sure of what he was making.
He looked out the window to see Percy and Frank talking, and suddenly, Frank collapsed, having seizures.
"Frank! No! Frank! Someone, help! Please help!" Percy cried.
I sprinted out, not sure of what to do, but checked his pulse. "No. Don't die on me. Don't die!" Leo yelled.
But he did anyway.Leo sprinted into his workroom, sobbing. He couldn't hold it in anymore. He couldn't fake being happy after all the losses, he couldn't hold that mask up after years of aching. he just couldn't deal.
Once he got in, he slammed the door behind him and locked it and broke down.
He got slowly up, and with shaking hands, he picked up the picture of his mom. Her face and clothing were stained with rust, just as they always had been after a long work day.
The picture was stained with tears from after she had gone.
He emerged hours later, and put on a fake smile. Someone had to be strong in the group.
Jason, however, knew me too well. He could tell when I had been crying and when I was in pain.
He pulled me aside, and whispered,
"Hey, are you ok? I nodded, not trusting my voice to speak. He hesitated, but decided to leave me alone.
The next day brought misery.
While everyone was moping in their own grief, no one noticed the mountain giants until one of their deadly boulders was on top of us.Sorry for the short chapter! Hope you enjoyed. The second part will come out tomorrow.
