"The Batman"..

     "I don't want to be.. The Batman..anymore.."

Black Canary took a moment before responding
  "No one could be The Batman, except Batman. You're not expected to become exactly like him you know. .when you grow up you'd be your version of batman."

Robin merely shrugged and continued to watch the floor.

"I know you admire Batman.. and you probably want to be just like him, but you can never be exactly like someone else.
As hard as you'd try, you'll always have your own strengths, your own weaknesses, fears, and ambitions and that's what could make your
batman even better, because you can bring a whole new set of skills and ideas to the cape..right?"

"But..You can't be better then.."

"Listen to me Robin, Nobody is perfect. Not even Batman, or superman. They may look flawless but they aren't..they might be good at hiding it, by
never showing their flaws on the ouside, or speaking them around us,  but on the inside, they have fears and problems just like everybody else."

Black canary leaned forward before adding "Your not expected to be perfect. people make mistakes, just like your not expected to be The batman. you're expected to be you. "

"yeah.. I guess so.."

Another moment of silence passed before she stood "Alright..cmon, We can pick back up tomorrow."

she lead him back threw the halls where Wally sat on the sofa channel surfing.

"M'gann, your up."

M'gann placed her cookie sheet on the counter and followed Canary back down the hall.

Wally glanced over at Robin "You okay dude?"

"Yeah..Fine."

*Just never going to be batman i guess..* he mumbled under his breath.

He sat down beside Wally and watched the screen change every three seconds, to lost in thought to care about what was playing.

"You know if your not up for this whole cleaning all-nighter thing, it's okay.  If you want to go home.."

"Nah, I'm Fine. Just.. need a minute."

Wally nodded and returned to flipping channels.

Artimis entered and sat in the furthest chair, giving Robin a slight glance of concern before glaring over at Wally and flipping aimlessly threw the closest magazine.

Robin wasn't sure how long they sat there, an hour? all day? he didn't bother to watch the time.
it wasn't until Black Canary returned threw the hall with Conner and announced she would be back tomorrow afternoon that he realized it must be later then he realized. M'gann immediately went to Conner and started a mind link conversation.

Using arm motions and making faces..

Robin never noticed how weird they all must look when they talk this way around other people..they made facial expressions and used hand motions like they were talking out loud causing them to look like a muted tv show.

he gave a small single laugh, causing the rest of the group to look over at him.

"What?" Artimis asked

"Nothing, it's just...I just realized how strange we must look to the people outside our mind links."

"Yeah." Wally turned off the tv "My uncle told me he gets freaked out whenever we have silent conversations. he said it's like watching
arguing mimes, but he can't seem to look away in case one of us pies someone's face... "

They all slowly glanced around at each other before grinning or laughing.

Only Connor seemed confused by the comment but seeing everyone else's amusement he smiled.

"you realize we have to pie someone's face next time he comes over now," Robin said

"We totally should" Wally replied

"I volunteer to pie Wally." Artimis added "all in favor?"

The whole room raised there hands

"What no!" Wally protested "I should pie Arti..oh well, as long as its strawberry cream pie I accept."

They all smiled. It was nice to forget there problems..if only for a moment they acted like they used to. The smiles slowly faded.

Aqualad was the first to break the silence "We should begin our cleaning if we hope to finish before black canary returns."

They all agreed and stood as Aqualad started handing out assignments.

"Superboy and I will be organizing the garage. placing tools in order and checking the security protocols."

M'gann raised her hand "I'll join you"

"I'm afraid you can not, Black Canary assigned us each a partner for the night..though we will meet back here later for status updates."

M'gann seemed disappointed but nodded

"Kid Flash and Artimis you will be assigned the training room. Clean, reorganize and update the training modes."

They sighed and glared at each other, clearly upset but knowing Canarys orders were final.

"Leaving Robin and M'gann to the mission room. Finishing Mission reports and updating the computers security files and hardware.."

Robin knew M'gann wouldn't be happy. She'd been giving him the cold shoulder all week. Though he wasn't sure why..

"Alright team. Meet back here at three a.m. for updates and new tasks."

They all made their way to the assigned rooms, Wally gave him a sad glance before disappearing around the hall with an Angry Artimis.

Robin sighed as M'gann passed him and walked to the mission room and began working without comment.

This was going to be a long night.
