"Sure Mom, I can help you with the moving," said Jack on the phone as he was sitting on the couch with Mark beside him. "I'll see if I can catch a plane tomorrow."
Mark looked at Jack and waited until Jack finished the call. Jack was listening to his mother on the other side of the line.
"Alright, I'll be there tomorrow," said Jack then said goodbye before he ended the call. "My parents are moving to another house so I have to help them."
"How long will you be gone?" asked Mark.
"I think only for the weekend. They don't have that much stuff," answered Jack and he was about to put his phone on the coffee table, but it started to ring again.
He looked at the screen and he became confused when he saw the principal's name on the phone. He looked at Mark then he picked up the call, but he put it on speakers so that Mark could hear it too.
"Hello?"
"Mr. McLoughlin. I'm sorry to disturb you, but your daughter is out of her mind." said a female voice on the other side. "She locked the dining room's door and trapped the student in there. We can't open it and we don't know how to calm her down."
Mark and Jack became worried and they both quickly stood up to get their shoes and the house key. While they were leaving the house Jack informed the principal on the phone that they were on their way and they should find another way inside the dining room. After the principal said okay Jack hung up and put his phone away. They were running, so they would get there faster.
"What do you think happened?" asked Jack from Mark.
"She is probably pretty upset and those assholes angered her too," answered Mark. "No surprise that she is angry."
They finally arrived so they entered the building and they quickly ran to the dining room. A group of teachers and students were trying to open the door, but without use, because Linsey locked it with her power and kept it closed. When the principal saw Mark and Jack she quickly called every teacher away from the door to let Mark and Jack open it. They tried, but Linsey was holding it strong. Mark had to act fast so he tried to melt the lock with his power, but without anyone else besides him noticing it. He then pushed the door open and he entered the room with Jack. As the students saw the opened door they all started running out, letting Mark and Jack inside.
"Linsey, please stop," shouted Mark through the noise the tables and chairs were making, but Linsey seemed like she didn't hear it at all.
They both tried to get closer to her, dodging the flying chairs and tables.
"LINSEY!" shouted Jack too and Linsey looked at him with her red eyes. "PLEASE STOP!"
Linsey's expression didn't change until Mark reached her and grabbed her hand. She looked down and Mark tried to pull her down to the floor while Jack kept talking to her.
"Everything is okay," said Jack as he reached her too, grabbing her other hand. "We are here."
Linsey looked at them and slowly she calmed down. She landed back on the floor and all the chairs and tables fell onto the ground with a loud noise. Her eyes turned back to their normal color, so Mark and Jack calmed down too. They were both relieved and hugged Linsey who was confused.
"Are you alright?" asked Jack as he released her and looked into her eyes.
"I..." started Linsey, but as she looked around she realized what happened.
She saw the frightened teachers in the doorway and she quickly looked back at Mark and Jack. She started crying and pushed herself away from the boys, then ran towards the door. The teachers let her go so she just ran through the hallway out through the main door. Mark and Jack were still standing in the dining room and looked at each other.
"We need to talk." said the principal to Mark and Jack, so they followed her to her office.
As they went through the crowd to follow the principal the teachers looked at them with anger and fear at the same time. They entered the office and Jack closed the door behind him. The principal sat at her desk and mentioned to the chairs in front of her desk so the boys sat down too.
"Listen," she started. "When you two said that she is a bit different I wasn't expecting this to happen."
Mark and Jack just looked at each other and didn't say anything.
"You said that she will keep her ability to herself and won't use it in school. I said alright. And it's clearly not what happened." she said and Jack answered.
"She was upset that's all." but the principal wasn't convinced.
"Her personal problems and issues are not enough reason to do this," she said, but not Mark interrupted.
"She was angered. I bet that Travis boy was the one who angered her," the principal now looked at Mark.
"Mr. Scott is annoying sometimes, that is true. But I'm sure he didn't say anything that would anger a person that much." said the principal.
"That boy is more than annoying..." started Mark his reasoning but the principal didn't let him finish his sentence.
"Which is why we keep an eye on him, but we can't constantly monitor his every move," she said as she leaned back in her chair and kept looking between Jack and Mark. "Therefore she has to learn to control her emotions and deal with Mr. Scott if teachers aren't around."
"This isn't..." Mark was about to argue again, but this time Jack stopped him, putting a reassuring hand on Mark's arm.
"We will talk with her about this," said Jack to the principal while he continued to hold Mark's hand. "This won't happen again."
"I really hope so. I wouldn't want to expel her," Jack nodded to her and he stood up quickly pulling Mark with him because he knew that there wasn't much left from Mark's patience. This will be a long talk that's for sure. "I don't want to tell you guys how to raise your daughter, but if I were you I'd start to consider homeschooling as an option as well. In case she wouldn't be able to keep her powers to herself and I would have to expel her in the end."
"Homeschool?" asked Jack because Mark at this point couldn't say anything that wouldn't turn this conversation into an argument.
"Unfortunately, Linsey isn't the only student here. I have to make sure that this school is a safe place for the kids and I don't want to hear from the worrying parents that they would rather take their kids to a different school, because this institution is dangerous. You have to understand that."
"Right," nodded Jack as he considered what she said then started pulling Mark along once again out of the office. "We will talk with her and thank you for giving her another chance."
"Her last chance thought," she added before the boys left her office without another word and headed towards the main entrance.
