Vic POV:
Despite him saying he was going to, Kellin didn't play anything for me that night. But he did video call me. Sometimes, it's hard to believe how capable of doing things with technology he is, after all, he was born before my grandmother. And most people of that age struggle with it. But I'd never dare question it, mostly for fear of hurting him. He didn't like being reminded of his age, which I found out when I went to celebrate his birthday. That was messy...
But either way, his end was dimly lit because it was almost one in the morning. I didn't have any lights on at all, because I was laying in bed and Mike was asleep above me. I'd whisper to Kellin, and he'd talk into my headphones so we wouldn't wake anyone up. "I can't sleep without you, " Kellin whined.
"I know darling, I know. But you have to try. Hug a pillow, wrap yourself in blankets. " The camera shifted after I told him to do that, and he was covered in a few black blankets, one of which advertised My Chemical Romance. I guess the phone was on a pillow, because the camera moved closer to him as when held his arms out. He pulled one of his arms back and kissed the infinity sign on his bracelet. "What's that for? " I asked, curiously.
"It's how I'm kissing you for the next few months. Hang on-" He traced the symbol on my wrist into his own, and mine began to glow. And I felt like his lips had pressed against my bracelet.
"How'd you do that? " I asked, still shocked.
"It's connection magic. One of the perks of having a blood oath. Vampires actually have a really complex alchemy system and stuff. "
"Can I do it? " I asked.
"I don't know if it works that way. Copy what I did and let's see. " I kissed the infinity sign on my bracelet, then traced the symbol on my wrist. Kellin's didn't glow like mine had though. It remained unlit. "Nothing, " He said disappointedly. "I'm sorry, I guess we only have one way magic for now. "
"What if I was a vampire? "
Kellin's expression became dark and cold. "No. Absolutely not. "
This was the second time we'd brought this up, and both times he seemed completely against it. It can't be that bad, dying and then becoming immortal. I mean, Kellin did it. And look at him. He seems like a great guy, and you can easily forget that he's a vampire. But it was too late at night to argue with him. "Ok, ok. I'm getting tired. I'll talk to you in the morning, ok? "
"Sure, goodnight." And Kellin hung up before I could say anything else.
I texted him in my messages.
Me: I'm sorry that I keep bringing up the vampire thing. I wanna live with you forever too. But I never got to say it: goodnight.
I put my phone down and tired to sleep, but now I was wide awake. After a half an hour, I think I finally drifted off, bit Kellin still hadn't responded to me. I guess that he just fell asleep.
I woke up in an hour in a cold sweat. Kellin still hadn't responded. What if he was laying dead somewhere? What if he was dying? What I he was getting high, and he broke his promise, and now he couldn't talk to me to tell me about it, and I couldn't help him because if that stupid vow. I checked my phone obsessively, looking for any signs of him communicating. Nothing. Tony shuffled in his bunk, which was across from mine. "Vic? " He whispered.
I put a finger to my lips, and he came over to sit next to me. He rubbed the sleep out his eyes and saw that I'd texted Kellin. Tony held his hand out for my phone, and I handed it to him. He typed in the bar.
'Worried? '
I nodded my head.
He erased the message. 'He's fine. You're fine. Now go back to sleep. You need it for tomorrow. '
I shook my head.
Tony sighed. He erased the message again and then typed something else. 'Keep calm, remember. It's just chemicals. '
I raised an eyebrow, and Tony held up my wrist, which revealed my hand shaking like a very abused dog. He then nodded to my other hand, which was clutching my stomach. I didn't realize how sick I felt until he pointed it out. He stood up and got a glass of water, which he handed to me. How did he know my throat was killing me? I drank it all gladly.
Tony typed something else into the bar. 'You're not fine. You need a break.' He took my phone and stuffed it into his pillowcase. He took my hand and pulled me up, leading me outside of the bus, which was parked at the venue for now. He walked with me, and we spoke quietly.
"This is getting to an unhealthy point, " He said.
"I can't breathe. Squeezing. " I gripped at my throat.
Tony took my hands away from my neck. "You need to think about something else. "
"Like what? I can't-"
"Yes, you can. Think about your concerts. Think about song lyrics. Think about your vow. " He nodded to my bracelet.
'I won't ever hurt the thing you love. '
"How did you know about that? "
"It's a never take it off bracelet. You make a vow before you put it on. I don't know what you promised, but you shouldn't break it. "
"I won't ever hurt the thing you love. "
"You made that for Kellin, didn't you? "
I nodded.
"By having this anxiety attack, by obsessing over text messages, by doubting his loyalty to his promise, you're hurting the thing he loves most. Vic, you'll be okay. You need to stop thinking about him for a few minutes, and focus on breathing. Just focus. "
