Akira shoved and wound her way through the crowds, some people mourning in grief, some people arguing and fighting for rations and some people not even there. The MP trailed her tail as he kept a close eye on her, ensuring to salute to other MPs on the way as his sign of respect.
"What's the rookie doing?" A clearly higher positioned MP questions as he noticed the MP behind Akira was actually helping her with something.
"Like it matters, nothing much is happening except petty fights." The blonde next to him remarked, causing him to nonchalantly shrug and nod in reply.
After the survivors had dispersed and went to their assigned locations, also known as their new homes, she managed to narrow down the amount of people she had to look through.
"Come on he has to be here...maybe if I find his patient I'll find him...Armin Arlert was his name." She continues rushing around, looking for a young boy around her age with blonde hair and blue eyes. After a few minutes she had located a small group of three boys, one with black hair and silver eyes, one with brown hair and green eyes and the one she was looking for. She suddenly sprints to him and grabs his hands, not giving him any time to comprehend the situation, "Have you seen my dad? The doctor? He came to give you a checkup just before Shiganshina fell." She spoke at a pace which cause her words to sound as if she was speaking another language.
"Hey..." He pulled her hands off of his and cupped hers in his own, "Calm down."
She nodded and continued, "The doctor who came to give you a checkup today...did you see him?"
He raised a brow in confusion, "No, he contacted us to tell us he was unable to make it due to some important work he was required to do before next week, so we allowed him his week to finish."
She looked at her hands as his cased around them, his hands much warmer than hers, yet frailer and softer, "He lied to us...and now...now-" She pulled her hands out of his and turned away, noticing the two other males were staring at her, one more intrigued in some form than the other. She dropped to her knees, face blank and expression as flat as slate as she stared at the floor monotonously.
Armin leant down next to her and moved her hair from her face, looking into her eyes from the corner, "What's happened? So many people have been through so much thanks to the titans." He chewed his lip as flashes of Eren's and Miika's faces before they boarded the evacuation ships whirled through his mind. He could sense the terror and trauma through their expressions, and just the thought of it sent chills jabbing down his spine.
"He left, saying he would be back in a few hours as he was only doing a checkup on one of his patients." In response to her question, Armin nods, signalling he was listening as she continues, "About half an hour after he left some random thug came in, I think he wanted me because he killed my mum and tried to take me, but I was saved by two MPs...not like those details are necessary but my dad lied to us and it resulted in my mum getting murdered." Her voice, body posture and expression all posed nothing but emotionlessness. She stood up and ran her pale fingers through her long, slightly messy hair.
"Wait." Armin clutched the sleeve of her arm, stopping her before she stepped away.
"Hmm?" She hummed flatly.
"Uh." he rubbed the back of his neck, feeling slightly intimidated by her, "You can stay with us, we are all sticking together in this warehouse, for some reason nobody else uses it so it's a large space for only four of us." He pointed to the large, empty, wooden warehouse standing just behind him. She turned to the MP and he smiled back, nodding.
"Take the offer hun, just know I'm always here when you need, treat me like a friend." He closed his eyes with a large, cheesy grin, kneeling down and ruffling her hair. Her heart fluttered slightly at the thought of having someone to call a friend, and she couldn't help but feel a wave of happiness, which was very soon consumed by the feeling of reality again, and also her emotionlessness.
"Thank you again, for everything." She said, knowing it didn't sound genuine due to her voice, but she meant it, and to prove it she offered another hug, which he happily accepted, hoisting her up and wrapping his arms around her.
"He's not like the other MPs I know, he's genuine and caring." Eren commented to Miika, who only solemnly nodded in response. He was very similar to Akira in the sense of being stoic, however he showed more emotion than she did and was usually somewhat angry most of the time.
Once he placed her down after a few minutes, he saluted to her, pressing his fist against his chest near the whereabouts of his heart as to express his loyalty to her, "I'll always be here for you, just remember that."
She nods as he walks off, the three boys simply standing behind her and watching. She turns on her heels and faced them, "Thank you for letting me stay with you."
Even though her voice was still keeping to it's monotonous nature, they could tell she was honest and genuine.
"Its alright, you can call us your friends too." Armin smiles brightly, causing another wave of happiness to drown her, her eyes widening slightly as she trailed them over to the other two boys, both of them nodding, the brunette also smiling slightly. Her heart again made a weird feeling spread through her chest as it's beat sped up slightly. She clenched the cloth of her shirt near the area of her heart and breathed out slowly, composing herself. She went back to her original self and nodded back to them. Armin grabbed her hand and pulled her into the warehouse, which was surprisingly warm, and pulled her to a corner, where a few blankets were thickly and neatly folded, all smoothed out, "We will sleep together on these, it's comfy and the body heat should keep us warm when it gets cold at night, better than sleeping on a hard wooden floor." He chuckles gently, clearly attempting to lighten the mood with his light, bouncy little shrug.
She sighs in relief and comfort, sitting down in the very corner of the room on the sheets, leaning against the wall and tilting her head back, "I've never been able to sit down with people and call them friends...it's...nice."
Armin could only respond by sitting next to her and smiling at her, "Why not? You seem really nice...uhm despite your cold composure and aura, and you're very pretty." He smiled warmly, forcing her face to go warm and paint over with a raspberry pink.
"Eh...my appearance is one thing that used to drive people away..."
"Well it shouldn't have." Eren joins in, sitting next to her on the other side. She looks over at him with a questioning expression, "You really are just unique, people shouldn't be scared or cast you out for it, it's just because you're different and they don't understand."
She felt her lip nearly twitch up into a smile, but she held it back, "Thank you, guys." She stretched her arms above her head and yawned loud, feeling her eyes grow heavy. Before she knew it, she was in a little huddle with three other people, whom she had permission from to call friends, all sleeping soundlessly together.
