Chapter 28

All standing in a dark, torch-lit room, the rookie Scouts conversed, "So you guys are really-" Eren cut himself off, Miika, Armin and Jean stood around in front of him. 

"Yes, we will be in the upcoming Operation." The ravanette replies, somehow knowing exactly what the brunette was going to ask. Akira allowed her body to relax in their presence as she sat loosely on one of the benches behind Eren, her chin resting in her hand. 

"Hey, Eren," Jean started, catching the groups attention, "I heard while you were in your Titan form, you intentionally attempted to crush Akira and Miika, mind telling us what that's all about?" 

Eren gasped lightly as he was suddenly taken aback by the question, "You're wrong," Miika defended, "He though he was swatting a fly, nothing more-" 

"I wasn't asking you." Jean rudely disrupted, causing Miika to let out a small noise of shock, "Oh by the way, Akira." He looked over to the white haired female, making her stand up and swivel around on her heel to face him, "That cut on your cheek," He placed two of his fingers together and tapped on his own cheek twice, "It looks pretty deep, just how did you get that again?" His eyes narrowed more as she clenched her jaw and quickly flipped her hair over her face. 

She hissed under her breath, "Why does this have anything to do with you anyway," She looked up at him, anger content in her eyes, "Why do you care!?" 

"Because i'm trying to prove a point, we are being expected to trust him, to die for him, to let our fate rest on his shoulders, yet he can't even control himself when he turns into a 14 metre tall monster. We need him to show...no...to prove that we can trust him, to prove he is worth our lives." The golden orbed male inched closer to Eren, slamming his hands down onto his shoulders, "Eren, can you do that? Can you prove this to us? If you can, we are with you...all the way."

Bells rang through the district, lines of Scouts on horseback all stationed, nervous and skittish as they awaited for the gates to be opened. Despite the fact that Akira was supposed to be watched closely by the Special Ops Squad, Erwin noticed that it wouldn't help the formation to have another person stationed in the center. They would benefit more with more skilled soldiers in the Forward Scouts team, the most reliable Scouts lined along the front rank who encountered Titans the most and signalled this to the rest of the formation with a red smoke signal, however were also allowed to take them out if necessary due to them being exceptionally skilled. Gasps of small children caught the white haired female's attention as she looked over, a young boy and a young girl whispering to each other in awe. Her green eyes scoured them for a while before her attention was drawn back to the formation as a commander began to motivate them, "This is it! The day has come for Humanity to take another step forward, now let's show those Titans exactly what we're made of!" Cheers resonated through the Scouts as they threw their hands in the air, a few holding their weapons above their heads. The gate began to rise, the rattling of chains accompanying its movement. 

"Forward!" Erwin ordered, followed by hooves pounding against the floor in large clusters, "It's officially begun, the 57th Recon Mission, Scouts, move out!" He yelled back, even the Soldiers at the rear of the formation able to hear his voice echo through the sky. As they ran through the broken district, the Soldiers rode at a constant speed, the only sound heard being the hooves clopping against the cobbled pavement. 

"Ten metre up ahead!" Hanji, the 14th Section Commander, yelled back to the Support Squad and the Forward Scouts. Akira stood up on her horse, noticing people from the 104th stare at her, slightly surprised at her position as they had only just started the expedition and she was already expected to kill a Titan. Using her gear, she flew up to the Titan, two other Support Scouts following, "Let the Support Squad do their job!"
