When I told my parents what had happened, they rushed me into the house. They got out that box dad held the night before. When they opened it, I saw a red stone, or maybe a crystal, and a pearl roughly the size of my hand.

"What are those things?" I wondered.

"These are the keys to get to the civilizations in the depths of Earth," Dad told me.

He pointed to the red stone crystal, "This is a Pheonix Crystal. It's linked to the center of the Earth and when you squeeze it, it will teleport you to the kingdom.

Mom picked up the pearl, "And this is a Tide Pearl. Like the Pheonix Crystal, it has a link to its place of origin. It will activate when you rub it."

"And why are you telling me this?" I asked. "You're not gonna make me use them are you?"

"We thought you would want to see our homes," Mom said, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

"I just want a normal life. No crazy alien stuff," I huffed.

"We aren't aliens son," Dad said softly. "Sea Dwellers and Pyro Residents have always lived here on Earth."

I shook my head. Why me? Why do I have to be different? I decided to go for a walk, just to clear my head. When I got outside and away from my house, I started to run. I don't know why. It was almost involuntary. I ran down the street, then took a sharp left. When I turned the corner, I saw smoke in the distance. Huge black clouds of it. I heard sirens from a fire truck or an ambulance.

I ran towards the smoke. The closer I got to it, the faster I ran. My legs ached from the exercise, yet I couldn't bring myself to stop. My eyes widened with fear when I saw what was burning. A house, but not just any house. Katelyn's house. She could have been in there! I ran to her driveway, then stopped and looked around.

"She's in there!" I heard a woman scream.

I turned to see Mrs. Robins talking to a firefighter. Well, more like yelling at him.

"We are doing everything we can miss. We still haven't found her yet," The firefighter told her as he tried to calm her down.

No one was paying any attention to me, so I ran into the burning house. I hoped that what my parents said was true. For once, I hoped I wasn't normal.
