Chapter 6

Leonardo rushed into his penthouse like a tornado and literally ran into the bathroom, leaving his head of security and housekeeper puzzled. Within 10 minutes Leo had showered, shaved, changed his clothes and rushed back out to his car again, before racing off into the blazing day. Leaving his two employees even more puzzled.

Okay, I have 10 more minutes to reach the Garcia mansion before Lorenzo starts hunting me down.

As soon as Leo reached the mansion, he literally jumped out of his car and ran to the main hallway in the house. He was just about to climb the stairs to Lorenzo's office when he caught a glimpse of Teresa walking towards him.

She looks so cute at home, he thought. No, wait.... what?

Teresa! Next time when you're in my presence, please be abit more dressed than those shorts and T-shirt you are wearing. Unless of course, when we are alone in our bedroom. You are to be my future wife! I have standards! Leonardo yelled at Teresa who was completely astounded by the statement.

I.... I'm... I'm so sorry.....she began.

You will not apologize to this blithering oaf my dear! came the voice of Lorenzo as he appeared at the top of the staircase. Leonardo, she is not your wife at the moment. She is just your fiance and even when she becomes your wife, it doesn't mean that you talk to her as if she's an animal that can't understand! Get this straight through your 12 inch long head that sits between your legs! She is still my daughter and she lives under my roof, so until then, she can dress in whatever she wants to. Your opinion is irrelevant here do you understand?! Lorenzo yelled back. Now, before my lecture turns into a long speech, both of you please try to quickly make your way to my office. Or do you need an invitation Leonardo? He said spitefully.

Lorenzo stood up from his chair, glaring at Leo. Holding the final copy of the marriage contract in his hands which he had to read out to the couple sitting before him after which they sign. It broke his heart that he was about to ruin his only daughter's life this way, and Teresa, she just kept on agreeing to every condition that was put infront of her, most times Lorenzo would have been proud to see his daughter being so obedient, but today it was tearing his heart into tatters.

Teresa, he said, do you agree that two weeks from now you will become Leonardo Cortez's wife and therefore submit yourself to him without questioning him or his authority? Do you agree to be the eldest daughter in law of the Cortez household? Do you agree to obey the Cortez's and never dishonor them?

I do agree, Papa came a shaky reply.

Leonardo, do you agree to take Teresa as your wife and fulfill all the duties of a good husband?

I agree, said Leonardo confidently.
Remember, you two will have to stay married for 10 years before getting a divorce. Leonardo, Teresa will also work as legal adviser in your company, your father requested it. Teresa, you will have to stay faithful to Leo regardless of whether he is faithful to you or not.

I have some important work to do, so I'm going out. Leonardo, you can show yourself out on your own. Teresa, I'll be back by nightfall. And with that, Lorenzo walked out of his office, his heart totally in shreds now.

Teresa, why are you so quiet? I don't really like my women to be quiet, whispered Leonardo, even though they were now alone in the room and sitting close to each other.

Is that what I am to you? I'm one of your women? Yeah, of course I am, Teresa cried out. She couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

Well yes, that's what you are to me. That's what all women are like to me. But remember, you are mine and only mine. After we get married, you will do exactly as I say.

I hope you rot in hell for this, she whispered and ran out of the office and into her room where she locked herself up. She couldn't tolerate being in the same room as him anymore.

We'll see about that my dear, I'm not known as the devil incarnate for nothing, said Leonardo into the empty room before walking out.
