Chapter V : Before the Match

Note: There's gonna be a few POV involved in this chapter. It won't change the story that much. Just adding a new elements to the story. Go easy on me

Gustavo's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As the three of us talking, Fernando finally came back from the locker room. Already changed into a dark blue polo shirt (Seriously, he really loves dark blue), shorts, and he brought his tennis bag as well

Gustavo         : Whistles in admiration "Looking pretty sharp there mister athlete"
Reis                 : "I agree, you look really nice there mister" Chuckles
Fernando      : "Why thank you. Finally some good things you guys said there"
Gustavo         : "Don't get used to it hot stuff, I rarely praise you like that"

True, I rarely praise him like that. But to be fair I never saw him in a polo shirt. I usually see him in our school uniform or using some regular clothes (Not gonna lie, he didn't look that bad but i won't tell him)

Fernando      : "True that, you rarely praise me like that" Sighs
Reis                 : "But I meant what I said. You look good in those. You should take me to practice more then" Smiles

Ohhh I see, Reis is trying to convince Fernando to practice more while actually praising him huh

Fernando     : "W-well, I won't mind you coming over for practice" Blushes
Gustavo        : "Ohh?? Do I see some red cheeks there? Or is it just my imagination?" Smirks
Fernando     : "O-oh shut it"
Aiko                : "Anyways, let's get started then. I'll be the Umpire for your match. Just get into position and I'll get Lucas to get ready
Gustavo        : "Wait, Lucas is already here? I thought he's not here yet"
Aiko                : "Nah, he arrived at the same time as I did"
Gustavo        : "Ahh, then why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Aiko                : "Well, first of all I didn't know he's your brother. And secondly, he wanted to warm up and stay focus before the match"
Fernando     : "Also, you'll probably ask him a barrage of question"
Gustavo        : "What?? I won't do that. I'l just probably ask him a few questions"
Fernando     : "Probably huh?"
Gustavo        : "Yess, probably. Honestly why won't you believe me??" Pouts
Fernando     : "Well, cause the last time you met your brother. You ask him like tons of question. We ended up staying at your grandmother house for a few hours"
Gustavo        : "W-whaa, t-that didn't happen"
Fernando     : "Oh it did happen. Shall I ask your grandma then? Or probably after the match I'll just ask Lucas about it so he can confirm it"
Gustavo        : "Guuhhh..... But that doesn't mean you got to have that little faith in me"
Fernando     : "But sadly, I do have that little faith in you about this thing"

Ughhh..... That hits me hard. I probably deserves it after what i did to him before"

Fernando POV

Well, I know he misses his brother but if he got the chance to meet him before the match, then I won't get to play against Lucas
He got a lot of potential. He's much much more mature than his older brother here

Gustavo       : "ATCHOO!!"
Fernando    : "Bless you"
Gustavo       : "Thanks"

Well what do you know, just like how the saying goes huh. Well anyways, as I was saying. His brother got much more potential than his brother. He got talent, brain power, pretty much everything that his brother doesn't have, Lucas got it

Fernando    : "Well, I'll get in position then. Aiko, go ahead and call Lucas to the court
Aiko               : "Alrighty Mister Vice Captain of the club" Smirks
Fernando    : "Yeah yeah, sure lets go with that"
Aiko               : "Oh so you don't like the title huh?"
Fernando    : "Nope, you basically dragged me for that position"
Aiko               : "Well, too bad. Like it or not, you'll stick with it"
Fernando    : Unamused "Hooray for the title"
Aiko               : "You could at least sound a little excited-"
Fernando    : "Nope, not gonna happen"
Aiko               : "Aww you're no fun
Fernando    : "Yeah yeah, how dare I be the opposite of fun"
Aiko               : "Ughh fine, I'll just go ahead and get Lucas"
Fernando    : "Finally, now hurry up"

Finally, after a while she goes to call Lucas to the court. I haven't seen or contacted him in a while as well but I message him once in a while. At least one of us stay contacted with him

Reis                     : "So Fernando, tell me about Lucas. I'm kinda curious abou-"
Fernando         : "I'll tell ya about him later"
Reis                     : "Awww why not now??"
Fernando          : "Cause I see Aiko walking towards the court with Lucas"
Reis                     : "O-ohh, alright then"
Fernando          : Sighs "Why don't you ask Gustavo about him. He is Lucas older brother you know"
Reis                      : "Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about Gustavo being here" Sticks his tounge out
Gustavo              : "Heyy! Don't just forget about me that easily"
Fernando           : "Well, I'll talk to you guys again later after the match. Gotta warm up a bit"
Gustavo & Reis : "Alright! Good luck"

Heh, those two are cute together. Probably Gustavo is already thinking about wanting to go out with him. Just the two of them.

I started warming up when I saw Lucas approaching the court. Heh, he looks really ready to start the match. So I approach the net while Lucas did the same

Lucas                   : "Nice to meet you again senpai. How's my brother?"
Fernando           : "He's doing fine. I manage to get him to join the club"
Lucas                   : "Whoa really? Where is he now?"
Fernando           : "He's right there along with the new student" Gestures to Gustavo and Reis on the side
Lucas                   : "Ahh so the rumor was true about the new transfer student. Lucky, you guys got to meet him already"
Fernando           : "Yeah, pretty much. Anyways, you ready?"
Lucas                   : "Ready as I'll ever be"

Damn, he says that with full confidence. He's looking better everytime I saw him on the courts. I won't lie, he's good. He can keep up with me and he's a fast learner when practicing. So i'll probably have a hard time keeping up with him

Aiko                     : "Alright then, let's decide on who's gonna serve first. Fernando, heads or tails?" Tosses the coin in the air
Fernando          : "Heads!"

Heads has been my lucky coin toss. 90% of the times I pick heads, I usually got that

Aiko                    : "It's heads. Fernando, you'll take first serve or nah?"
Fernando         : "You know me, I'll take it"
Lucas                 : "Gosh this is gonna be a pain to deal with" Mumbles under his breath
Fernando         : "Sorry, what was that Lucas?"
Lucas                 : "Nothin, I said I can't wait to play against you Fernando-senpai"

Huh, he got a lot of fire in him huh. Guess the break was enough to make him want to play against me. He asked me a lot to practice on school vacation but I always decline (I'm just lazy to play while we are having a vacation)

Guess that means I need to be serious about this match. Wait actually scratch that. I'm always serious when it comes to tennis. No matter how easy it looks like, never underestimate your opponent. Cause if you do, then they probably caught you off guard when they suddenly play really well. That just means I need to do my best like usual
