My breathing had increased rapidly once my surroundings came back to me. Tears threaten to spill through my confusedly shown gaze at the floor. How could that be me? Is my mind messing with me? I shake my head quickly while pulling myself off of the floor and walk out of my room and speed walk out of the dorm. Chills run down my spine as the images come back to mind, I looked so happy but that never happened. Gosh my head is killing me, I stop walking and rub my temples. At least I'm almost to the café.

Once I made it to the café I plopped down in a booth and pulled my book out as I analyzed the gleeful girls and boys. One girl was sipping her latte as a guy probably complimented her due to her being a flushed read. Another couple sits near me, the girl argues quietly with the boy while the boy rolls  his eyes at her. As my eyes scan across the café my gaze lands on a pair of girls sat at a table. The girl has her arms wound tightly around the other girl as she sobs immensely. The innocent girl holds a worry filled look as she comforts her friend.

Before I can look around more I squeeze my eyes shut in excruciating pain. I suck in a sharp breath and rub the heels of my palms unto my eyes as I attempt to make the pain go away but I can't seem to open my eyes from this nightmare.

        // flashback

Harry ran out of the bar while shoving his wallet into his pocket. Tears threatened to spill as he anxiously told the cab driver the address of his destination. While in the middle of a game of pool Harry had received a call from Jane's mother sobbing into the phone explaining that Jane had gotten into a car accident. Harry had been visiting once since he was on winter break from college, he couldn't stand college without Jane. Sure he had hooked up with other girls but no matter what all he saw was Jane's green eyes and her blonde knottily braided hair.

Harry's guard crumbled excessively as tears poured out of his eyes. The cab had finally arrived to the entrance of the hospital and he ran in as fast as his long slender legs could take him. His pulse raced as he awaited to find the girl he loved. Finally after finding a nurse's desk Harry rushed over choking out the name of the girl he loved so greatly.

"Jane Carney," his voice cracked revealing his inner vulnerability as Anna rushed into the waiting room and sped walked over to Harry. She grabbed his arm and informed the nurse that he had been with her and practically dragged Harry down the hallway.

"I-Is she okay?" he spoke and tried to control his pace as Jane's best friend refused to speak. She seemed angry at him.

"Please Anna I need to kno-" Anna stopped in her tracks and turned to Harry in an abrupt manor. Anger seeped through her gaze as she glared at the vulnerable boy.

"Stop it! You're the reason she crashed you know that? You texted her and she crashed. She was texting you back and the car ran straight into her. I can't believe you hurt my best friend!" Anna cried out angrily and Harry couldn't help but fall to his knees in guilt.

He felt as if his blood turned to ice and his heart grew three sizes too small once the words left her mouth. Out of all things to kill her he had provoked the cause of her death. If he hadn't texted her she would be fine. His breathing became quick as he stood up and walked into Jane's hospital room.

She laid on the bed with a heart moniter beeping indicating that she was in fact alive. Though the flush red of her cheeks wasn't evident and was replaced with a pale skinned color. Bags lay under her eyes along with dark circles indicating she hadn't slept in days. This wasn't Jane, this wasn't the girl he fell in love with.

Jane's parents stood opposite of Anna with tears in their eyes, Harry couldn't help but feel endless guilt knowing that he hurt not only Jane but many others. Jane's mother grabbed Anna's hand and gave her a reassuring smile.

Harry looked at Anna once more and regretted his actions as she glared in his direction. Tears continuously spilled down Harry's cheeks as he continuously heard the beeping heart moniter. Before he could step forward and grab her hand Anna slapped his hand away in anger.

"Leave. Now. I never want you near my best friend again!" She screamed and Harry's lower lip trembled as he stumbled back in fright.

He turned on his heels and walked out with his shoulders slumped over in sorrow. Harry knew he had to leave, he knew that after this he would no longer be in her life. Jane was to grow up with another man and get happily married and pop out ten babies.

        // flashback over

I shift uncomfortably and scratch the back of my neck nervously as a force of habit. As my eyes scan over the café once again a small gasp escapes my lips. Everyone left and the café was left with a darkened lighting and an empty set of tables while an employee mindlessly cleaned up. I stand up and turn around to leave and push open the door encasing my body in the cold.

Heels click softly behind me and I turn around and examine the figure stood behind me. Mr. Styles stood there wrapped in a trenchcoat with red eyes and tear stained cheeks. He looked as if he had been crying for hours before this encounter.
