stress

Long days at school just made Harry absolutely exhausted.

He was currently at university, but seriously debating about switching to a simple art academy the next semester, but that wasn't the point.

Louis wasn't home yet, so Harry decided to make something. They had red velvet cake and hazel nut brownie mix, and Harry couldn't choose between the two, but he figured he would have time to make both.

He put on some Ed Sheeran, the acoustic version, on his iPhone and started with the brownies.

Louis didn't care for hazel nut, but Harry figured he could take them to his trigonometry class to share.

He heard the front door open and slam shut, and Louis finally came into the kitchen.

"What's going on?" he asked. "Are you making dinner?"

"No," Harry answered casually. "Cake. And brownies."

Louis frowned. He knew what it meant when Harry got to baking.

"Alright." He sighed. "What are you trying to avoid?"

Harry shrugged and continued mixing the batter. The question itself made his stomach turn. There was a shit ton of stuff he was trying to avoid.

"Harry, you can tell me." Louis said to him, suspiciously. Harry nodded and continued to arrange the batter in the baking pan.

Louis wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's waist, and gave him a simple kiss on the neck. "Do you want to talk about it, or have me leave you alone while you de-stress?"

"I'll let you know when the brownies are done," Harry told him. Louis nodded and went back to the bedroom to leave him alone.

Louis changed his clothes and watched TV on the bed, listening to Harry bang around in the kitchen. He heard the oven beep, which meant something was done.

"Brownies are done," Harry shouted feebly. He sounded tired. Part of Louis wanted to force him to just go to bed early and sleep it off, but Harry was stubborn, and he would likely be in the kitchen for hours.

"Do you want one?"

"I'm not- I don't." Harry told him, shaking his head.

Louis was frustrated that Harry wouldn't talk about what was upsetting him, but Louis knew him well enough to know that he would come around when he felt like it, when he was on the verge of breaking down.

It had been an hour since Louis heard anything from Harry and just assumed he fell asleep downstairs, so he got up and decided to brush his teeth before bed.

In the midst of doing so, louis was nearly knocked over by Harry, who fell straight over the sink and coughed before vomiting rather harshly.

"Oh." Was all Louis could say as he watched Harry heave over and over again.

"I'm sorry," Harry shook his head as he suppressed another heave. He retched and covered his mouth, his sick seeping through his fingers.

"Okay, uh." Louis said, looking around for a towel. "Okay."

He grabbed a wad of toilet paper and wiped Harry's mouth when he was sure he was done.

"You okay?" Louis asked and Harry feebly nodded. Louis rinsed out the sink and grabbed a spare toothbrush and sat Harry down on the toilet and began to brush.

"You're going to thank me in the morning." He chuckled and Harry rolled his eyes.

"Let's take a shower, yeah?" Louis suggested and Harry nodded. Soon, they were both undressed and under the hot water.

Harry was weak so he let Louis wash his hair and scrub his skin. Afterwards, they were both dressed in oversized sweaters and sweatpants, ready to watch a marathon of Pixar movies.

"I can make you some tea if you'd like." Louis began but Harry quickly shook his head. Louis just sighed and pulled Harry into his lap.

The younger lad yawned and lied his head on Louis' soft thighs, letting him play with his damp curls. He still felt a little sick, but not in the way he'd like, so he decided to sleep it off. Everything would be okay with a little sleep, right?

Wrong. So wrong.

"Lou, let go. You have to let me go." Harry breathed out, trying to pry Louis' fingers from his waist.

Louis had woken up in a panic, wondering why Harry wanted to get up so badly. Harry moaned and clutched his stomach and Louis suddenly understood.

"Wait, baby, let me help you." Louis said soothingly as he chased after Harry.

Harry groaned as he flipped the toilet seat up and started untying his sweats.

"Louis, pl-please leave." Harry was sweating and making small whimpering noises as he struggled with the strings.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Louis asked anxiously, running his fingers through Harry's curls.

Harry yanked down his pants and boxers and sat on the toilet just in time before being hit with a wave of stomach pain.

"Oh god," Harry moaned, in pain and gripping his stomach.

"Jesus," Louis said in concern, wincing at how awful Harry must have felt. He wet a face cloth and started wiping down Harry's sweaty face.

"I didn't think it would be so bad," Harry mumbled and whimpered in pain. He hunched over as another wave of stomach cramps and diarrhoea hit him.

"Didn't think what would be so bad?" Louis asked in confusion.

"Urgh, I mean, I just thought it would go away," Harry replied. "The stress, I mean. I have a report that's due tomorr- oh my god." He groaned.

"Do you feel like throwing up?" Louis asked, rinsing out the face cloth.

"I don't know, Louis," Harry said tiredly and looked away. "Can I just have a bit of privacy for now? I love you taking care of me when I'm sick, but I'm ok. I feel better already. I'll be out in a few minutes."

"Are you sure? I can rub your stomach, or something?" Louis bit his lip with worry.

"I'm fine, babe. I'll be much better when I get this out of my system," Harry gasped out as more cramps overwhelmed him. Louis nodded and left Harry in the bathroom.

It was a whole hour before Harry emerged and Louis gave the weak lad a soft smile.

"How're you feeling, babe?" He asked, letting Harry rest his head in his lap.

"Better." He sighed. His stomach was still a little uneasy, but it was okay.

"I'm sorry you had to see that." Harry winced a little, feeling his stomach turn.

"No, babe don't apologize." Louis smiled, kissing the top of Harry's head.

"You're just a little stressed, it's okay. It happens to all of us."

Harry rolled his eyes and stared at Louis.

"So everyone practically explodes out of both ends when they're stressed?"

Louis chuckled and let his head fall back.

"Just go to sleep, babe. It'll be better in the morning."

And with that, Harry was falling asleep to Louis' touch. Slowly and softly. Just how it was supposed to be.
