*At school*

It was 4th period as you were in Spanish with Señor Uhl, you were happy that it was near the end of the day and because it was a friday so people were ready for the weekend...especially you

You yawned as you had your head in your hand while Uhl blabbered on about Spanish greetings or something
"Okay, now...who would like to say a Spanish greeting?" Señor Uhl asked as he turned around from the board and gazed over the class.
Some people started to sink in their chairs while some even moved their desk away.
Expect for Kate who was sitting at the other end of the class with the same gesture as you, Bored and tired.

"Ah! Gracias, Señorita Kate for volunteering" Señor Uhl said, gazing over Kate as she looked up at him.
"Yeah. No gracias, Señor" Kate said, shaking her head as you couldn't help but snort in laughter a bit.

Señor Uhl furrowed his brows. "Come on, just uno, Señorita Kate" Señor told her as Kate scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Fine. Hola, pedazo de mierda" Kate said as Señor Uhl immediately gasped.
"Oh dios, Señorita Kate! Detention for such horrible language" Señor Uhl raged as he glared at Kate.

"Gracias, Señor, that's number 370 detentions now"

"Boom! You just bought yourself another detention" Señor Uhl pointed at her as people started to "ooh" while you just watched in silent...how on Earth does she have 370 detentions!?

"Did I get a good deal for it?" Kate said, looking up at Señor Uhl, smirking and perking a brow while her foot was on the table. Stop it, Kate.
"That's 3 detentions!"
Is this normal?...

Kate must of known she's going to far because she started looking around the class without her usual smirk.
"Okay, look, I apologise" she said, looking back at Señor Uhl.
"Ha! 4 detentions, Señorita Kate" Señor held up four fingers.

Okay, now that one was just unfair to Kate, she apologised! Sure Kate is a ruthless, aggressive, reckless girl but she still exists and is still human. I think.
But before you knew it, words escaped your mouth.

"But she was apologising" You spoke, turning in your seat at them as everyone immediately looked at you. Did you just do that?....

Señor glared at you, "okay, L/N, know you got one" he pointed at you as you saw Kate make a annoyed expression at Señor.
"But you were being unfair to Kate!" You protested at him.

"That's dos, Señor/Señorita L/n"

You gawked, he's being so unfair!
"But I don't want another one!"
"That's 3, you wanna go for 4?" 
"I really don't want to"

"That's 4!"
You looked behind Señor Uhl to see that Kate was glaring at the back of his head.
"Wanna go for 5?"

"Yes!" Kate let out from behind Señor Uhl as you stared at her in shock. How dare she!
"Y/n" you heard someone whisper as you look behind you to see Eli Pepperjack there, "stop" he mouthed at you.

"Stop what? Kate said-!" You protested.
"ENOUGH!" Señor Uhl boomed, making the whole class silent and gaining their attention.
"Señorita Kate and Señor/Señorita L/n will be serving detention today, after school" Uhl said, glancing at both of you and Kate.

You scoffed in disbelief as you turned in your chair and slouched with your arms crossed, did that really happen? Did Kate really just give me another detention? Señor Uhl looked once more at you and Kate before turning around and walking back to the blackboard as he started writing Spanish greetings on them, mumbling about time wasters.

Well...this is gonna be fun...

*after School, in Detention*

You tapped your fingers impatiently on your desk as you looked up at the clock that said half-past 3, Detention has started as you and Kate sat at your chairs opposite of the entire room. 'This is just great' you thought. If only Kate hasn't opened her gub then you wouldn't even be here, you'll be at your house doing whatever you wanted.

Thank god Señor Uhl wasn't in the classroom at the moment, he went away because he heard bickering outside near his white truck. Wouldn't be surprised if it was two of Kate's friends causing a diversion to get her out of detention.

You and Kate sat in silence as you continued to stare at the slow ticking clock and Kate was apparently carving messages on her desk with a pair of scissors. You noticed that she has a strange obsession with scissors...meh...

"Why did you do this?" You asked suddenly, breaking the silence as Kate looked at you from across the room where she sat next to the window. She looked at you before shrugging and placing her feet onto the table. She can't never sit normally or stand straight.

"Dunno...everything was just so boring, I mean, that's my 370th detention this year and it's always the usual...I just didn't want to spend detention alone" She said making you perk up. Wait, she didn't want detention alone? That doesn't really make any sense.

"Well, it's not really a excuse on why" You said as Kate grinned at you making your stomach turn...wait, what?

"Look, Y/N, Life's short, okay? You gotta make the best of it and you gotta have some fun instead of following rules, you get me?" Kate turned to you in her chair. You shook your head.

"No, I don't get you, we need rules to stay in order and to avoid protests, riots and even more" You told her as Kate rolled her eyes.
"I mean, that's obvious but you just gotta, you know, rewind from everything and basically be set free. You don't need grown ups telling you what to do" she said as you sighed.

What's even the point of arguing, more specifically, arguing with Kate who probably has her own collection of human skulls? No wonder, she doesn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend.

"Do you even have any friends?" You suddenly blurt out, eyeing Kate.

"...I have three friends" Kate spoke, quietly as she played with the scissors, "Jim, Claire and Toby. They're good people, you might know Claire, she's the popular and pretty one" Kate said.

You don't know who Claire is. You shook your head again, "no. I don't know her, well...I'm sure they're great" You said with a small smile trugging at your lips.

Kate then smiled, not her usual smirk but a actual smile. She looked down onto her desk. You gotta admit that you think a smile looks good on her.

"Hey, can I borrow your phone?" She asked.

"Uh?" You checked your pockets to feel that your phone wasn't in there.

"Thanks"

You looked over to see that Kate had your phone in her hands, already on it. How on earth did she get that!?!?
"Wait, what? H-how did you--?" How did she even get into your phone if you have a lock on it?

Before you said anything, Kate shoved your phone into your chest. "There, I placed my number in there, you seem cool enough" she said as you looked at her in a bit of confusion. What just happened?

Did you just get Kate's number? You look at your contacts to see that Kate has put her number in.

You couldn't help but smile a bit more and chuckle, you're definitely gonna change that when you get home. You slid your phone back into your pocket. "Uh, thanks, I guess"
"Don't mention it"

Then the classroom door slid open as a irritated Señor Uhl came stomping into the class, mumbling Spanish cuss words under his breath. "Alright, Detention over. Get out!"

What's got into him? You quickly stood up, same as Kate as you both took your bags off your chairs.
"What's wrong with him?" You asked.

"Some students have splattered paint on his truck" Kate said, looking at Señor Uhl as you glanced at her.

"What? How do you know?" You asked Kate as she then smirked at you.
"Let's just say that...I have a knack of knowing stuff" She said. You looked at her in confusion as she walked out of the door whilst saying, "See you next sunday" to Señor Uhl. Oh, you forgot she has a Sunday detention.

You grinned again as you walked out of the school. With Kate's number in your phone, maybe this won't be so bad...
