Chapter 6}New pets and...Feelings???

{Dib}I yawned and stretched as I sat up in my bed, the bright morning light of the sun gleaming in through my window. I was about to get up when I heard a small tired groan from next to me and it dawned on me that Zim was still here, holding onto a portion of my coat. I sighed softly and tried to remove my coat from his grip but he only shifted restlessly and pulled more of my coat into his grip, causing me to topple onto him. I opened my eyes after I landed to see Zim's closed eyes begin to shift and open tiredly, until he saw my face and then his eyes shot open in surprise,"Um, Dib, what are you doing on top of Zim?" He asked and I chuckled awkwardly,"Sorry, you wouldn't let go of my coat so when I tried to get it out of your grip you only pulled on more of it and it pulled me onto you, sorry for waking you up." I explained and looked at the hand that had a huge chunk of my coat in it and he quickly let it go,"Sorry." "Your fine. Now, you want something to eat?" I asked as we got up and he perked up with his antennas shooting up and his eyes wide with sudden hunger,"YES!!! I'M STARVING!!!"He exclaimed and I chuckled while handing him the rest of the candy from my secret stash of junk food,"I'm going downstairs for breakfast, if you want, you can put on your disguise and join me."Zim nodded and rummaged around for his disguise as I walked out of my room and peeked downstairs to see it empty and hurried to the kitchen, grabbing and making a bowl of cereal and heading back into the living room and turning on the tv as Zim shimmied hurriedly downstairs and took a seat next to me. Just then I noticed a note on the table, it read:'Dear son-We have noticed your recent behavior and have decided that perhaps a pet may help you be less lonely-Dad'I was minorly confused by his decision but shrugged and turned to Zim,"Hey Zim, do you want a pet?"I asked and he turned to me shocked but nodded,"Alright. We'd better get ready, you can grab what you need and change in our bathroom. I'll change in my room.""Ok" He replied and got up with me in tow. Once he grabbed his clothes he hurried into the bathroom and I changed into a fresh pair of clothes. Afterward I walked back downstairs and waited by the door until Zim walked downstairs and met me by the door and I open the door and we walk out. As we walk me and Zim talk about life and even some plans for the future along with the test coming up soon. After about 25 minutes we finally arrived at the animal shelter and walked in. Inside my dad and Gaz were waiting and before they could say anything I grabbed Zim's arm and pulled him with me down the first isle I saw,"C'mon, lets start looking."He was shocked by my sudden action but went along with it,"Um, ok Dib." I didn't look back as we both began checking out all of the animals. I was about to go into the next isle when I heard a small cry, I turned to see a small baby skunk squished between the wall and the last space in the isle

I knelt down then and reached my hand out to him to try to pick him up and he hissed at me and did an adorable little jump, and that's when I smelt it. He had sprayed me. I cringed at the smell but continued to scoop him up into my arms as he minorly freaked out before slightly calming down. I walked up to the front desk and the woman there seemed to be looking for something, but paused as I walked up,"Oh,hello! What can I do for y-"She paused as she saw the small skunk curled up in my arms,"Aw, there you are you little stinker, how did you manage to get out of your enclosure?"She said as the skunk stared up at her,"Do you plan to buy him?" She asked and I nodded,"Yep, how much is he?" She looked him up on her computer and looked back at me,"He'll be 37.80$.""I'll be paying."I jumped as my dad's voice rang up from behind me and I felt a grip on my coat and I turned to see Zim with a lizard on his shoulder
