I'm seriously going to dread dinner tonight. Waking up this morning, I'm in complete disbelief of everything that went on this past week. Kail walks into the bathroom with a silly grin on her face.
I groan, "What is it that you have up your sleeve?"
"Oh nothing," Kail says still with that ridiculous smile on her face.
"You definitely have something up your sleeve or someone..."
"Maybe both..." Kail spins on her heel to face me, "So homecoming?"
"What about homecoming?"
"Ry, there's going to be a whole lot of drama with you and Benji going together."
"I have to focus on the game first, Kail. Me and Benji both do."
"Can you at least promise me we can get through dinner with Dad without any drama."
I roll my eyes, "That depends, is he going to blame me for ruining his engagement?"
"I'm so confused when this engagement happened," Kail says laughing.
"How is his failed engagement my fault. We know it's his workaholic ass that is the problem."
"Please don't say that at dinner," Kail begs, and in my sister's eyes, I can tell she's not ready for this dinner.
When arriving at school I just really want to get this day over with. School and dinner. Straight from U.S History, I go to Calc without making any stops. I walk in and see Daniel's and Tiffany's seat empty. Weird because their class before this isn't directly across the hall. Not that I'm watching or anything but Daniel hasn't been in class since Monday. You know you're watching. I take my seat in the back of the room. Shortly after Benji walks in with his entourage of football friends that are in this class. I honestly don't know how the teacher manages to teach but he does.
Benji approaches me placing a kiss on my forehead, "Hey Sweetie,"
"Hey," I say smiling shyly.
"You okay?" He says taking his seat next to me, "You have those lines on your forehead."
"Dinner with my dad and Kail tonight. I'm seriously not looking forward to it."
"Have you and your dad spoken?"
"Briefly, about how I ruined his engagement. You should come to dinner, it would be way more fun."
"I'd love to, but I don't think your dad is ready to see me."
I roll my eyes and Benji grabs my hand. Just then Mr. Wilson walks into the room.
After class Benji and I step into the hallways and begin walking to the lunchroom.
"So home is that bad huh?" Benji says intertwining our hands.
"It's not bad, it's tense. This all is so one-sided."
"What has your Dad and Nina been saying?"
"Dad's just angry, and Nina is sending Daniel to stay with his grandmother."
"So dinners gonna be awkward and tense?" Benji says before opening the cafeteria door for me.
"Hopefully the mystery meat gives me a stomach ache and I can be excused."
Benji laughs, "Girl, you're so crazy."
The rest of the day rushes by just like I didn't want it to. Practice felt like 10 minutes and it was actually two hours. Walking out of the school building towards Kail car I'm dragging my feet. "Kail can we just skip dinner and go eat right now."
