Chapter 4

I woke up with unbearable pain in my head. In my mind I know I can't use the only tablet I have stored for a headache. I got up, took a sip of my water and took a bite of the chocolate biscuit,  rapping the rest in the plastic bag.

Its day two and I haven't achieved anything so I have to take the journey and walk. I know that it takes 2 hours by car to the nearest rustic town, so who knows how long it will take by foot.

"I can't get negative thoughts. Take control or it will just ruin me." I said aloud, hoping to shake myself out of it.

I allowed myself one last sip of water before I grab my backpack and walk out of Alley Way camping spot. I was scared and sad at the thought of my loving parents and friends that didn't survive this horrible disaster. I began walking, looking at the distance ahead. I had no phone, no music so this long walk will be boring. The sun above me didn't help my head whatsoever and the air was hot and humid. I just hoped I would find water soon.

I haven't come across a sign of any other living thing yet. I've walked nonstop, reminding myself 'the longer you stop and rest, the longer it will take to get to the rustic old town and get help.' To keep me moving, considering my sore legs.

I haven't seen any other colour than brown, black, and yellow. Just dirt, wild grass, and weeds that have no life and haven't had a drink for a long time. A crack on the road also means it hasn't rained here for a long time. I looked up to see a big green thing in the distance. I suddenly walked faster towards it to get a better look, yelping in pain not daring to believe my eyes and sure enough it was a tree. I sat under the tree covering my skin from the hot sun as I took a bite of the last half on my sandwich and gulped down some water. I thought 'the tree is green so there must be water around here somewhere'. Digging towards the roots of the tree, I found the soil was damp so there must be water here. I decided to climb the tree to see if I can catch a glimpse of the water or the old, run down town. I saw a lake but no town nearby, just trees and a dirt track.

I hopped down from the tree and began walking towards the lake. Coming closer, I could see the water and grasses coming out of the lake. I took my shoes and socks off and hopped in the cool water. Swimming around in the water, I got out and notice my headache was slightly better even though the air was still hot and muggy. I grab my shoes and socks and walk back to the tree. By the time I got to the tree my clothes were dry and my hair still damp. I took another sip of water realizing I don't have much left and ate the last of my chocolate biscuit. The air was getting cooler and cooler by the hour as the sun was setting behind the white clouds. I decided to sleep here tonight before I began my sore journey to the town.
