The Poet's Curse
"If you cannot be the poet, be the poem"
as if anybody ever had a choice
as if the poets have not been cursed

so they can store it in their words
and those without their poet's eyes
can see the colors behind the world's veil
but the curse of the poet is that those very eyes
cannot be turned upon themselves
and so the price of a poet's art
is a poet's perpetually breaking heart
