So, in a story, you usually have one main character, am I right? And a lot of the time that's your OC. Don't have an OC? That's what this chapter is for - and creating characters (main or not). Firstly, OC stands for Own Character. Secondly, it's basically where you have your own character that you rp with and stuff. Mine change about every week XD.
Let's get started! First, answer these questions in your head.
1) What is the cats name?
Remember to base the name on the looks! Most people work on the descriptions first then the names but I do it oppositely.
Our example: let's call our character Hawkflight.
2) What gender?
What can I say? Tom/male (boy) or she-cat/female (girl).
Our example: Hawkflight is a tom.
3) What age?
I view the age like years. So, for me, I picture kits becoming apprentices at 6 moons like going to school at 6 years old. So then practically you graduate at around 15 moons. (Not sure tho)
Our example: Hawkflight is 20 moons old.
4) Looks?
One of my fav parts in creating a cat! Picture your character in your head or find an image of him/her. Remember- no gingers called Darkckaw, if you know what I mean! ;)
Our example: let's say Hawkflight is a brown tabby with dark green eyes.
5) Unique traits?
I talked about this before- unique traits can be things such as scars, markings, rips in ears etc. Things like that make your cat different from others.
Our example: I'm going to make Hawkflight have a scar on his left flank and a little rip in his right ear.
6) Personality?
This is harder than you think. Well, for me it is anyways. I try to be careful not to make my characters Mary Sue much. Imagine a cat called Angelheart. How do you imagine her personality? I can probably think what. What if I told you she's got a twisted paw, a scarred muzzle, blood stained fur and red eyes? And her personality is snappy, blood-thirsty, stubborn etc? Well... what I'm trying to say is, you might wanna make the name fit with the personality.
Let's think of something for Hawkflight.
Our example: Hawkflight is bold and brave. That's the positive side. Too Mary Sue though. The negative side of him is that he loses his temper and can get grumpy, causing others to feel pressured around him.
7) Special fact/s?
The is also a fun part. Like the unique traits, this is also about what makes your cat who they are.
Our example: Hawkflight never knew his father. He is afraid of thunderstorms. He doesn't like being left out. He once almost drowned.
See? That makes him more interesting already.
8) Skills and weaknesses?
Yep, another part to make your cat who he/she is. We cannot be good at everything. It's the se for animals- talking meow here. There is one or two skill/s he/she is good at, and one or two he/she struggle with.
Our example: Hawkflight's best skill is fighting. His heavy body and large claws make it easier for him. His weakness is stalking prey. His weighty paws always rustle the grass and he hates crouching motionlessly for a long period of time.
9) Fear/s?
Everyone has them. Spiders, heights, tight spaces and snakes etc. Note that sometimes fears will be a little harder to come up with for cats. Make sure it's something that actually exists around their territory!
Our example: Hawkflight is terrified of tight spaces. Tunnels, tall grass and dense bushes give him the shivers.
10) (last one!) Any mate, kits, parents, littermates etc?
Everyone has family. As we mentioned before, Hawkflight's father us unknown. Remember if your character is an apprentice or very, very young it is unrealistic to have him/her have mates and kits. Maybe a crush, but nothing more.
Our example: Hawkflight's mother is Frostwillow. His brother died at birth and he has a sister called Pineflower. He is in live with a she-cat called Flowercloud, but is too afraid to tell her.
