|| FAST FORWARD WHEN THEY ARE OLDER ||
I just graduated and found a job at Covington and it pays me well enough to buy the husky that Jake & I are longing to have since we walked the park together with our moms.
Jake & I still stood by each other. We would do our homework together. He would come over and we'll study together for finals and midterms. We were still inseparable even until college. Only when in college, we both had a hectic schedule which makes it hard for us to hang out more than we used to. Until we graduated, we both started working and we tried to bridge the gap between the both of us and made up to each other that we will still be friends even if we're adults.
Last week, Jake reminded me of buying it when the next payday comes, and that is today. I just got my pay last night and I didn't know if Jake remembered that we're going to buy our dog today. Because this is also the date that we met each other since childhood.
April 28.
When I woke up from the beauty sleep that I'm in, since it is weekend, my phone immediately rang.
It was from Jake.
"Hey sleepyhead! I got good news for you! Look out your window, clock is ticking!" He said.
I hope he remembers our special day. I stood and looked in the window and saw Jake waiting for me. Our eyes met and he went to get a paper and a pen and wrote something in it.
"JENNA AND I GOT TOGETHER LAST NIGHT!" It said.
I got such high hopes. I thought I woke up with him saying that we will buy the puppy today. It's just so very sad.
Maybe Jenna is the reason why Jake refuses to go to my house and hang out. Or maybe we're just grown ups. Maybe it's just we need to be mature enough.
But all those years will be wasted? No, thanks.
I was very sad, it kind of hurt when he said he's got a girlfriend. It's not jealousy but I'm the best friend, I was with him before he even met Jenna and he's just gonna dump me like that? Break his promise that I never thought he would do?
I went to get my phone and texted him.
"You're the man! Congratulations!"
I sent the text and turned my phone off. I saw him look at his phone on his bedside table, while I was staring at him on the window next door. I went back to bed wondering if he remembered that today is the day that we complete one of our goals together.
"Any plans today?" He texted back.
"Oh, no. Nothing." I replied.
"Okay, gotta go see Brianna." He replied.
I closed my phone, kind of feeling a little hurt because how could he forget something he promised JUST A WEEK AGO.
I guess I'm just gonna go and go to the pet shop today and buy it myself.
