The darkness closed in and the morning found As curled up, a book still resting on her chest. Moaning slightly, she rose and emerged from tangled covers. Getting showered and ready she adjusted her uniform slightly so it complimented her figure (using magic which was more accurate and neat). With that, ready and presentable she went down to the common room.
Finding the common room bare, she sat contemplating before a sly grin covered her features and she leapt up.
Quietly she made her way to the dorm room that Fred and George shared with Lee.
Deciding in a hurry, she chose to wake the twins. Jumping on each of them in turn, they awoke groaning in pain but attacked her back with hugs. Gesturing wildly to get them to shut up she recruited them in Plan 'surprise Lee'.
The trio positioned themselves carefully around sleeping Lee.
On Ascella's silent three, George cast agumenti with his wand pointed at Lee's face. Before Lee could do much more than sit up in shock As threw a small rock that they had been working on that caused the room to go dark for all of a few seconds (it was a prototype). When the black smoke had cleared Fred, as a dementor scared the crap out of Lee.
While this hilarious episode happened a magical camera was passed round recording As' first initiated prank.
After he got over the shock Lee watched the developed picture (which was more like a video from the muggle world) with the others in hysterical laughter.
"Woah," Lee commented after he regained control of his breathing "That was... AWEsome. It was your idea right?" He asked As in disbelief.
"Yes it was, my friend, yes it was." Replied As proudly. Nudging Lee over she slipped under the warm covers. The other three watched her. When she noticed she teasingly reprimanded them.
"What are you still doing here? Go get ready then. I'll wait here." Fred and George were used to this but Lee wasn't familiar with this routine. Going along with it anyway, he followed the twins' lead. About 20 minutes later the boys emerged from the bathrooms and As leapt up. Each of them shouldered their school bags and went downstairs where Perce greeted them and together they went to breakfast.
In the great hall they ate and conversed until they were interrupted by the distribution of schedules.
When McGonagall slid their schedules in front of Fred, George and Lee they simply stared blankly at them.
"Professor," Lee began
"These bizarre papery things you've just handed out, don't mean," George continued
"That we still have," Fred added
"Lessons." The three groaned in unison. Perce and McGonagall wore identical expressions of disapproval. McGonagall hid her shock when she noticed As giggling in the middle of Percy and Fred. Mentally she moaned, 'not another Sirius' she thought 'he was quite enough. He and James gave me many a grey hair. She looks just like Sirius when he was at Hogwarts. And if her sitting with the Weasley twins is any indication then Hogwarts won't know what's hit it. Harry Potter and Ascella Black... oh Merlin'.
Handing piece of parchment to "Miss Black" and another to "Mr Weasley" (Percy) McGonagall (after spending ages conversing with Percy) moved on.
After eating they trudged back to get the right equipment for their lessons. Perce wished her luck and went off to join some friends. Fred and the others accompanied her back to the great hall. Upon seeing her cousin she hugged them and walked off towards Draco.
"Cousin." Draco greeted. The other Slytherins looked appalled and bewildered.
"Shall we." Gesturing in the direction of Transfiguration, their first class.
The other assembled Slytherins joined in on the conversation and simply didn't address the issue of Ascella being in Gryffindor.
In Transfiguration the Gryffindor and Slytherin cousins sat side by side. Each of them managed the charm perfectly. As had her father's lazy intelligence and Draco was expected to do well in school so he made sure that he did.
Grinning and satisfied with their first Hogwarts success, the pair packed up and walked together out of class. Giving her cousin a quick hug, she left the Slytherins to walk among the lions. Sneaking up on Ron, As jumped up on his back hitching a ride to their second lesson: Charms. Once again, As easily mastered the spell this time the exceptional witch mastered the spell without murmuring the words aloud. This kind of magic was NEWT level so she knew not to show off about it.
After feeling like she had had a wonderful start to Hogwarts life, she deemed the first day a success and made her way happily to the great hall for dinner.
As had easily and quickly settled into Hogwarts though she missed Remmy and sent many letters to him. She was popular, well liked, smart, funny, pretty and as a result of these qualities, envied.
In lessons she either sat with Harry and Ron with whom she was becoming closer friends or her cousin. She and Draco despite their differences got on amazingly and were very close even though they hadn't known each other long. Outside of class, she spent her time with Fred George and Lee or with Harry and Ron.
She, Harry and Ron had visited Hagrid (As secretly called him Hagrid-the-friendly-half-giant) a few times after dinner and found his company most enjoyable, despite his odd nature.
Bizarrely most of the teachers liked As even Snape though he hated both Gryffindors and her father; two strikes against her, he acknowledged that she was a good student. For Snape that was him singing her praises. She continued her father's legacy; she and the other three (Fred, George and Lee) pulled many witty and wonderful pranks and though the professors knew it was them they couldn't prove it.
