Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey, I was wondering if you know where Monse is? I've been calling her but she's not answering" he rambles sounding desperate. "Oh, hey Cesar. Yeah, she's with me, we're working on our history project together. Don't worry she said she'll meet up with you tomorrow." I reassure him.
"Okay, cool. Thanks Lana, can you tell her to call me when she has the chance? It's really important."
"Yeah, for sure no problem. I'll talk to you later, bye." I quickly hang up the call before he gets the chance to respond and I groan. I'm so exhausted of keeping secrets, especially other people's secrets.
Should I call Monse and let her know Cesar is looking for her? Or should I not get involved and let her cheating ass get caught by Cesar?
Technically I'm already involved since I lied to Cesar telling him Monse is with me and I've been keeping her secret for a while now. Plus, Monse is one of my best friends, but on the other hand so is Cesar and the rest of the crew. At first, I didn't mind keeping Monse's secret from the rest of our friends, but now I'm constantly lying for her. I know she claims to love Cesar and that if she tells him it will only hurt and ruin their relationship but continuing to cheat on him only makes it worse.
For the past month or so, she has been cheating on Cesar. And to make things worse it's someone from his rival gang, the Prophets.
I'm already in too deep in this lie, I guess I'll tell Monse that Cesar is looking for her. I roll my eyes as I open her contact on my phone and call her. I'm pretty sure she's with Travis, the Prophet, and that's why she isn't answering her boyfriend's calls.
Monse answers instantly, "Hey, I was just about to call you."
"I'm sure you were. Anyways Cesar called asking about you. I told him you were with me doing our history project together, so don't worry" I roll my eyes.
"Oh my god, thank you so much Lana. I know you've already done a lot for me, but can you please do me a favor? Please?" she pleads. "Umm, I know you aren't asking me for a favor, especially after I've been covering for your cheating ass" I snap getting frustrated.
"I know, I know, but please? I'm spending the night and I left my bag and change of clothes at home. Can u go get them and bring them to me, please. Please" Monse begs.
"Why can't you just wear the same clothes as tomorrow? Plus, it's already getting dark."
"Because I'm going to visit Cesar tomorrow in the morning, and I can't wear the same thing as today or he'll know somethings wrong." She states as if it was obvious. "Fine, whatever I'll do this for you, but you owe me big time" I huffed. "Thank you so much and yeah I owe you big time" she sighs sounding relief.
"You have my spare key, right? And you know his address?" she questions. "Yes, I do. I'll text you when I get there, bye." I hang up.
Damn. I'm not in the mood to go to Monse's house, then Travis' house, and then back to my house. That's too much walking, but I guess I already committed. Luckily, I live right next door to Monse.
I unplug my phone, put on my shoes, and grab the spare keys while heading out to go next door.
After successfully retrieving Monse's bag I text her letting her know I'm on my way to Travis'. I start to make my way towards his house, it's like a 15-20-minute walk depending how fast you walk. And based on my walking pace today I should get there around 25 minutes. I really am not in the mood for this.
