Abortion is, as defined by Merriam Webster: "the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus". This is important because it is the deliberate murder of an unborn child. It is a topic which has been fiercely debated since 1973 after abortion was legalized as a result of the Roe vs. Wade court case.

I believe that abortion should be abolished in the United States. I, like my family members, believe that abortion is an evil practice and should be stopped as soon as possible.

The abortion debate involves many people that adhere to either the pro-life or pro-abortion sides. The Catholic Church teaches the pro-life belief that life begins at conception and ends at natural death. Some prominent pro-lifers are Abby Johnson, the former director of a Texas Planned Parenthood facility, Lila Rose, who went undercover at Planned Parenthood to expose illegal actions, Gianna Jessen, who survived a saline abortion in 1977, and Norma McCorvey, also known as Jane Roe from the landmark Roe vs. Wade court case. The Republican party is opposed to abortion, while the Democrats endorse it. The pro-abortion stance is held by Planned Parenthood, which is the largest abortion provider in the world, and other organizations like NARAL and the ACLU.
