Pro-choice advocates believe that women will resort to dangerous back alley abortions. But is there any evidence to support this? The pro-choice advocates also mention rape, but that only makes up less than 1% of the reasons for abortions (Finer). The main standing point for the pro-abortion people is the constitutional principle of the "right to privacy". This means that the women get to decide what happens to their body. But if this is true, then where is the privacy of the unborn baby? Why do they not get basic human rights? Elizabeth Warren claims that this is because the baby is not a person, seeing as they cannot follow the basic guidelines of personhood, which include: consciousness, reasoning, self-motivating activity, capacity to communicate, presence of self-concept and self-awareness. However, this does not make sense either. Some elderly people whose mental capacities are failing as well as mentally and physically unstable people are incapable of some of these same requirements. Does this make them any less of a person than the unborn child? The practice of abortion also insinuates that human life has no value. Therefore, the pro-abortion arguments are absurd.
