Chapter 60: The Last Daredevils

None of us said a word. We've heard multiple explosions and we've seen reinforcements na handang tumulong sa amin. When both of their pulses stopped, the portal which was located on our school gate shimmered and another set of undead armies started coming out. This time, they were stronger, and they can enchant magic. Akala ko doon na kami magtatapos pero hindi pala. 

We heard honks from ships and noticed that sorcerers from other countries flew towards us and defended us. Kraken, who stood silently, walked forward and gently carried Vermillion's body. The soldiers kept coming to defend Terrax at sinisigurado nilang hindi makakalagpas ang mga undead sa labas ng bridge or else it will be game over once again.

Inilatag niya si Vermillion sa sahig, at inilatag rin ni Leo si Cairo katabi ni Vermillion. Seeing both of them like this is unusual and never did I even imagine that I'll see them die together. 

The atmosphere around as along with the war explosions outside made me feel like we're definitely in doom. Everyone is trapped in hopelessness as if the path ahead is obstructed by dense fog of despair, and the flickering light of optimism seems to have extinguished. Not only team crumbled, but so is Terrax. Bago lang ako sa team na ito katulad ni Vermillion pero sa kanilang tatlo- they devoted all their 3 years fighting for Terrax only for them to be played and took part of this stupid war.

Napatingin ako kay Kraken and for some reason, he doesn't seem to be bothered by Vermillion's death. He looked calm and composed at minabuti niyang prinotektahan ang katawan nilang dalawa ni Cairo. Napatingin ako kay Leo and he do look like a mess, but he's oddly calm as well. Si Evie lang ata ang hindi tumigil sa pag-iyak.

"Tell me," I broke the silence. "We can save them, right?" I asked at tumigil sa pag-iyak si Evie at napatingin sa akin. "You guys look so calm despite this situation. There must be something we can do, right?" I asked.

"After this war, I can willingly sacrifice my life to give her life force back, so I guess she'll be fine," sagot ni Kraken. "If we'll win," singit niya.

"I can do the same," Leo added.

"You mean we're going to watch you guys die para mabuhay sila? Are you being serious right now? Pareho lang iyon!" reklamo ni Evie. "Why can't everyone live?!" reklamo niya ulit.

"Or-" Leo paused at tumingin siya sa labas, "Or if Al can defeat Farrah, then maybe Cairo's soul might come back-- assuming that he's not going to forget Vermillion after Farrah erased his memories, then that should be fine," he added.

"What?! Farrah?! You mean Farrah-- like Cairo's dead ex-girlfriend?!" Evie exclaimed. I just know that this whole situation is dumb, but I guess it's just getting dumber.

"You could've just said that she's one of our teammates though, but yes. I mean her," he replied.

"Then now what? Should we wait?" I asked.

"Wait? Waiting is not an option," Kraken answered. "My master's last order was to carry her sins and in order for me to that, I need to fight on behalf of her. She did not bring me back to this world para maghintay. I'll be going into the school and figure out what is going on," he said.
