Nekoma Shōyo (Kagehina)

Chapter 7 - Nationals

A/N: Hello everyone! Sorry if you already read this chapter, I decided I didn't like it very much. I changed the ending a bit. I will mark where I changed it, so you don't have to read the whole story again. Sorry for this, enjoy! :)

   It was finally time for the nationals. Hinata jumped out of bed before his mom could wake him up. He got ready as fast as he could and practically flew into his mom's car. His mom let him out by Nekoma high. As soon as he noticed Kenma weakly waving over to him, he dashed to the rest of the team.

   They got into their bus and talked over who they'd be fighting today. The first team would be Shinzen High, and if they beat them, then they'd go up against... Karasuno. Hinata's eyes widened. Everyone looked at him. He quickly noticed and gave them a weak smile.

Hinata: I'm so excited!

  Everyone cheered alongside Hinata, now knowing he was okay. At least they though he was. The ride was long. Shōyo sat with Lev and talked the whole way there, of course about volleyball and how pumped they were.

   When they got there, they gathered up all of their belongings and made their way inside. The place was huge. Nekoma got overwhelmed by all of the people there, even though they've been here before.

   Not long after, Nekoma was already doing their warm ups, when they heard that familiar whistle and saw their opponents. They didn't look all that intimidating. They knew they'd beat them easily. And so they did, with the crowd cheering loudly as they looked at the score board "19-25."

   Of course, they were all happy and pumped, but Hinata was getting nervous. He was scared that Karasuno didn't make it further, not only that, he also knew if they did, that Karasuno is hella strong and he'd finally see Kageyama and the others again. He was scared for their reactions.

   Hinata's stomach started acting up. He felt sick and wanted to go to the bathroom. He asked if Lev could come with him, because he knew better. Lev agreed, a little suspicious.

Lev: Are you okay? You must be a little scared.
Hinata: To be honest, I am.
Lev: SHŌYO, WATCH OU-

   Suddenly Hinata bumped into something hard and fell to the ground with a loud thud. He looked up and saw Tanaka, giving him a hand.

Tanaka: Shōyo! You gotta be more careful! Hey!
Hinata: Tanaka-senpai?

   Hinata looked around more and saw the whole team, but someone was missing.

Hinata: Hey, guys!

   He took Tanaka's hand and gave everyone a group hug, except Tsukishima and the first years.

Hinata: I missed you guys so much!
Yamaguchi: We missed you too! How are you?

   He felt calmer now that he saw everyone.

Hinata: I'm good! So, did you guys make it?
Ennoshita: Yep! We did!
Hinata: That's great! And Ennoshita-senpai, congratulations on being captain!

Ennoshita: Thank you-

Nishinoya: Shōyo! What're you doing calling everyone you senpai, when I'm standing right in front of you! Your best senpai!
Hinata: Noya-senpai!!!

Hinata and Nishinoya both jumped up in the air and then hugged each other.

1. year (Aki): Who's this?
1. year (Makoto): He's short.
Tanaka: You guys, this is Hinata Shōyo. He was our ultimate decoy!
1. year (Rei): Was?
Hinata: I transferred to Nekoma.
Aki: Why would you leave this school?
Ennoshita: Okay, that's a little personal. Let's not talk about that.
Hinata: Yeah, thanks. Anyway, where's Kageyama?
Yamaguchi: I think I saw him go somewhere with Kento (1. year).
Aki: Probably making ou-
Tanaka: Shut up, Aki!
Hinata: What?

Hinata was speechless. Was that first year about to say what he though he was? Making out? He started shaking and felt his knees get weaker. The whole world around him turned dark as he ran in the direction where Aki was pointing. He didn't even hear everyone behind him shouting his name or Lev fallowing Hinata from behind in case anything happens.
His heart dropped as he felt his eyes start to water up. He saw the person, who rejected him because he "wasn't into guys," making out with one of Karasuno's first years, a guy.

He didn't say anything, but he felt as though he wanted to scream. He didn't know if it was anger or sadness, but something just made him want to punch Kageyama right across the face. He didn't cry, but he felt tears in his eyes. He just slowly turned around to Lev, which he only now noticed.

Lev: Shōyo? Are you okay? Let's get out of here!
Hinata: Thank you, Lev. I'm fine. Let's destroy Karasuno.

Again, was it anger or sadness, but Hinata got fired up. He didn't feel nervous anymore. Instead, he felt powerful. He wasn't going to be upset if Nekoma beat Karasuno anymore. He'd feel satisfied.
When Lev and Hinata walked back to the team, Kenma pulled Hinata aside.

Kenma: Hinata, do you feel okay?
Hinata: Yes, I'm okay. Why do you ask?
Kenma: Well, Karasuno's captain told me everything.
Hinata: What do you mean everything?
Kenma: About what happened just now. He said you away in tears?
Hinata: Oh... Don't worry about it, captain! I feel great! Let's kick some ass!
Kenma: Language...
Hinata: Right, sorry!
