Friday finally arrived and my whole house is a war zone because the whole family is coming over for lunch after school. I managed to stop at a cafe on my way to school to grab my daily coffee fix before I realized the time and rushed out the shop to try and be on time for the last day of school.
In the beginning of the year I insisted that I'd walk to school in the mornings since it was only a few blocks away and there's something about New York in the morning that you can't quite catch from in the back of the limo. So every day for the past year I've been getting my coffee at the same cafe on the same walk to school while the same people walk some part of the route with me. If they manage to spare a second, they send a smile or a nod my way and sometimes it makes my day.
"Whoa," a voice rings out from the blaring music playing from my air pods while a hand grabs and pulls me back. A man on a bicycle zooms past only a few inches away from my face before I turn around to look at the stranger who had saved me. "You should watch where you're going. People don't look where they're driving," a raven haired girl with emerald eyes said, looking me up and down with concern. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, thanks to you. I live here so I should know the rules by now, but I guessed that nobody had tried to run me over in a while, so maybe it was finally safe," I joke and she chuckles.
"I'm Felton, and you are?"
"Claudia, Claudia Sulewski," she says, shaking my outstretched hand.
"It was nice to meet you Claudia, but I'm going to be late for my last day so will I see you around?"
"I'm only staying for a few days since I'm doing a shoot here, then I'm heading back home to LA," she replies.
"Well that's a shame, but again, thank you for saving me, I really appreciate you not letting me get run over," I say and she chuckles.
"No problem. Have a nice day, I hope to see you again!"
"You too, bye!" I reply with equal enthusiasm before we part ways.
I look at my watch and realize that I'm already five minutes late. Mrs. Jones is going to be up my ass.

My last day of school has officially come to an end and it's true about what they say it's a bittersweet feeling. Students were throwing papers, torn up books and other hazards in the air to celebrate the freedom they've been yearning for their entire school career. I wasn't someone who hated school. It provided structure and a place to build from and although that's two of the reasons people despise it, those are the reasons I loved it. So much so that I'm returning to get my degree in Business next year at college. It might be rare, but I've been planning out my life since I was little. Every plan has been written down in the same notebook I've had for ten years. I don't go anywhere without it.
"I see you have a dainty ring on your finger today," Naomi, one of my best friends comments as she look down at my hand as we're walking out the building.
"It's a promise ring. Henry gave it to me last night. He's the sweetest," I gush and Naomi makes a disgusted face. Naomi Cambell has never been one for relationships, more for hookups with no feelings involved. I don't judge her one bit, but it's something that me and her have very different opinions on.
"Girl, I don't get how you two have been together since the beginning of high school. Don't you wonder how it's like to be free and single?" she says and motions her arms around like a mad woman.
One thing I've noticed about my relationships with my friends is that I'm always the listener while they're the talker.
"You make relationships sound like it's some type of prison," I say rolling my eyes.
"Well, if you think about it, there are some similarities," she jokes and I give her a push.
"Is your family already at home?"
"Unfortunately yes. I can't wait to hear how Uncle Sam made a billion dollars in the oil business. Again!"
"Enjoy it while it lasts, a month on your own can really change your perspective on things," she notes with her eyebrows raised.
"Okay wise one. Since you know all the facts, you probably know that there's no chance my life's plan I've been making since I was eight is going to change in thirty days,"
"I'm just saying, not everything you've planned might go along to those plans in your little book. I'm going to miss you so much!"
"Dude chill, I'm still seeing you tonight and on Sunday," I say chuckling while she hugs me.
"I know, but I'll still miss you," she says pouting.
"Well I gotta head home to get ready to meet the guests. See you later," I say before she greets me and heads to her limo. I open the sleek black door of my limo and jump in to see Avery already sitting inside on her phone.
"I know this is your last day, but you do take long as hell," she says and I just give her a cheeky smile in return.
"Have they delivered the dress this morning?"
"If they hadn't, someone was going to get fired, but mom texted me saying they delivered it half a hour before they had to."
"I would too," I say teasingly and reach in my bag to pull out a book to read on the way home.
