Regulus Black led Sirius away from the Great Hall.
"What do you want, Reg?" Sirius asked, finally giving up on being quietly curious. He had lasted a whole five seconds. Much longer than usual.
"Just trust me on this one, okay?" Regulus said, pushing Sirius through an empty classroom's door. "Here." he handed Sirius a vial full of amber liquid.
"What is this?" Sirius asked.
"It'll get that curse off your robes." Regulus said. "Just pour it into some water and soak them. It should work."
"Should work?" Sirius raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I'm not a hundred percent sure-but it won't make it worse." Regulus said. "I saw Mother and Father put it on."
"Oh." Sirius looked at the liquid. "Okay."
"Pay attention in your studies, Sirius." Regulus said, smiling and leaving the room.
"What studies?" Sirius said to himself, grinning.

"I'm back." Sirius said in a sing-songy voice.
"Oh thank Merlin." James said, pulling Sirius into a bone-crushing hug that hurt more than it should have.
"What's wrong, mate?" Sirius asked.
"Well-oh, you won't believe it, Sirius! We've been betrayed!" James screamed. The Sorting Ceremony had already happened and some first years sitting near the group stared at James in shock, who only got more confident with the audience.
"How were we betrayed, James?" Sirius asked, grinning.
"Oh! I can't even form the words!" James then leaned back, a hand on his forehead, and fell out off his seat onto the floor, making the first years erupt in giggles.
"Try for me, dear!" Sirius said, making his voice go an octave higher and slightly regal like. The drama queen being extra dramatic.
"Oh, but honey-it hurts so!" James said, sitting up. By this point some Slytherins were watching too, hiding their laughs with obviously forced sneers. All of them but Snape, who didn't have to pretend. He didn't find James and Sirius particularly funny.
"What is it?!!" Sirius asked, pulling James back onto the seats.
Remus rolled his eyes and continued eating. Peter was smiling hugely, clapping and laughing.
"It's-look at him!" James pointed at Remus accusingly.
Sirius looked over at Remus. Remus shrugged and pointed at his chest where a shiny prefect's badge was pinned to his robes.
Sirius gasped and pushed himself backwards so he fell on the floor.
"Oh, the shame!" Sirius cried, covering his eyes.
"That is quite enough, Mr. Potter and Mr. Black!" Professor McGonagall called from the staff table. "Everyone please return to their meals."
Sirius got off the floor and high-fived James, both of them grinning.

"Honestly, they're children." Lily Evans complained to Remus Lupin. They were standing by the doors collecting the Gryffindor first years. "Gryffindor first years! Over here please!" she added slightly louder.
Sirius clapped Remus on the back on his way out with James, who was being forcibly dragged by both Sirius and Peter. He was trying to get back to Lily, but luckily had two friends who cared about his well-being, because Lily was a fierce hexer.
