Chapter Two: Truce?

Draco's P.O.V.

I'm tired of fighting with him. I've given my home and family up just because I love him. And he doesn't even know it. Merlin, I'm an idiot. What if he doesn't like me back? He probably doesn't anyway but it doesn't matter. If I tell him and he rejects me, it would be better than me being a wimp and not telling him. And If that happens and he does like me back, I would, for no reason, live my life forever alone and miserable, just like Snape. I decided I am going to tell him how I feel.

        ---------------------------------------

I walk out of Transfiguration to see Harry, as always, with Weasley and Granger. I want to tell him how I really feel about him but I can't, not in front of his best friends. And when I do tell him, it won't be in some random open place like this. It'd be somewhere private and secret, probably like the Room of Requirements. Although I'm not going to tell him that right here, I guess it'd be a good idea to agree to a truce.

I walked over to them, Ronald gave me a disgusted look, Harry a questioning, and Hermione smiled at me. I'll take that as a good sign.

"Hello Harry, Hermione, and Ron," I said cheerily, trying to smile to let them know I'm trying to be nice. They all have me questioning looks. "If you'd rather, I can call you by your last names." I eagerly stated, trying not to upset or provoke them.

Hermione smiled again. " I think it's about time that you call is by our first names and get past that petty, childish rivalry. Don't you think so, Draco?" She smiled brighter. I nodded.

All of a sudden, I got really nervous. "So, I - uh, um, I wanted to speak- with the three of you," I stutterer. What a great way to make a new impression. They were silent. I'm supposed to talk, okay then. "First off, I wanted to tell you that I am very sorry for how I treated you all. But now that I am no longer a Malfoy, I am free to act how I like and treat people better, without having Lucius constantly breathing down my neck, telling me what to do."

They all had shocked expressions. Harry was the first one to speak.
"What do you mean, 'no longer a Malfoy' ?"

"Lucius didn't sell the story to the Prophet? I really thought he would have." I spoke, more to myself than the others. "I am no longer a Malfoy, my name is Draco Black. Lucius disowned me after I told him t-that I am g-gay. I stated, quietly sobbing at the end. Harry immediately wrapped me in a hug, that I definitely enjoyed more than I should have. Hermione copied his action. Ron slowly made his way over to me, not hugging me but also not making any rude comments. It was a start.

After a few seconds Hermione let go, but Harry didn't seem to want to. I didn't know how to get him off, not that I wanted him off. Ron coughed but Harry didn't move.
"Mate, let the bloke go." After a couple seconds, Harry breathed in very heavily, was he smelling me? He then let the breath out as a long, heavy sigh, and grudgingly pulled away.

   He seemed to blush. "S-sorry."
I slowly nodded. Then I remembered the truce. "I uh, wanted to ask you three something as well."
Hermione, still smiling brightly, replied, "Yes?"
Why was I so nervous? "I just wanted to know if you guys w-would like a, uh t-truce? You know, y-you three and Pansy, Blaise, and I?"

Ron looked like I just told him that Voldemort was back. Harry and Hermione though, looked the complete opposite. "Of course!" They happily exclaimed in unison.
"Great!" I said brightly. They then brought me into another group hug, this time Ron joined too.

I felt like a brand-new person, I guess I kind of actually was.

      ------------------------------------------

I stepped into the Slytherin common room and immediately someone tackled me to the couch. "Pansy," I shrieked. "Get off of-"
"Where have you been?!" She interrupted.
I paused for a moment. "Only making three new friends," I replied cockily. I knew Pansy was always up for new friends. The more the merrier apparently. She would be ecstatic when I told it was the Golden Trio, the reason being her seven year crush is a part of it.
"WHO?! WHO?! WHO?!" She squealed excitedly. Typical.
"Where's Blaise? I'll tell you both." I stated, hoping she doesn't rage.
"BLAISE! MAURIZIO! ZABINI!" She cried, probably loud enough for the Gryffindors to hear her.

A minute and a half later,  Pansy looked like she would scream her lungs off if he didn't appear at the bottom of the stairs within five seconds. Luckily for everyone with ears, Blaise came  bounding down the stairs a second before Pansy could blast off everyone's eardrums.

"Yes mum?" He asked sarcastically and very unhappily.

Before Pansy could say anything I interuppted, " I made friends with the Golden Trio. Well not exactly friends."

"What did you do?" He asked skeptically.

"I just apologized and made a truce," I answered honestly. Pansy was, as I thought, overly excited. Blaise didn't seem phased by it at all.

       -----------------------------------------

Pansy's P.O.V.   (A few hours after Draco told them about the truce)

I need to catch up on Charms because we have a test soon. That should be a good excuse to go to the library and hopefully see Hermione. And If she's not there I could just actually study, I guess.

I made my way to the library after dinner, and when I got there it was almost empty. Probably because there weren't as many classes, much less tests, for the eight years to take. With there being few people there, it was easy for me to spot Hermione in the back corner of the library.

When I walked over to her she just looked up, waiting for me to speak first. "What are you reading, Hermione?"

She smiled at the use of her first name. "I'm just reading  'Hogwarts: A History'. Why?"

"Just curious. I should have known, you've probably finished studying for the Charms test next week." Hermione's always ahead, if she's not studying, doing homework, or in class, she's probably just reading for fun.

"Oh! I completely forgot about the Charms test!" She squealed."

This is my chance. " Would you maybe, uh, want to study w-with me?"

"Of course!" She replied cheerily. We both went to find a few books and came back to the table that Hermione was just at.
   ----------------------------------------------

After about two hours of studying, we both left the library. I was so happy I skipped all the way to the dungeons, but I was stopped in the common room on my way to the girls' dormitory.

Draco and Blaise were standing in front of me. "Where were you?" Blaise asked.

I replied, still smiling, with "The library, studying." They both smirked.

That's chapter two. Sorry it took me like two months to get out 😅 I hope you like it.
Have a fantastic day!
