Chapter 7 (The Cheese in the Trap)

Chapter 7

After perhaps a 15 minute journey on the bus, we finally reached Hyejoo's chalet. As we entered, I did feel a bit nervous and apprehensive. As though psychically sensing this, Ryujin grabbed my hand and said,

"Don't worry, I'm here with you."

It was just a simple assurance that everything was going to be OK, but it helped disperse any notions of uncertainty and anxiety I had. I took Ryujin's hand and we entered the chalet. As soon as we entered, Hyejoo came running over to us.

"Ryujin, Kyungsoo! It's so nice to see you again, we haven't met for such a long time!"

Ryujin nodded excitedly. You could tell she was genuinely excited and happy to be here. When Ryujin behaves like a little girl, she actually looks pretty cute (UwU)

"Where's Yuqi and the rest of the girls?" she asked.

"Oh, they're playing 'Couple Truth or Dare' at the table over there." Hyejoo said as she gestured over to a round table at the opposite side of the room. Ryujin just said, "Come on, let's join them too!" and then just dragged me over.

As we arrived at the table, all of them saw Ryujin and I together and were very excited. To be honest, I didn't know some of the people at the table. Although I knew some of them as Ryujin's friends and some were my friends too, most of them were people I didn't hang out with or sunbaes (seniors) one or two years older than us who we got very little chance to hang out with. Someone quickly made space for Ryujin and I and we quickly sat down and joined in. As we sat down, I realised that Ryujin was snuggled up against me. I tried to move away but she continued to snuggle up against me. I ignored it, the table was probably too cramped or Ryujin was probably just feeling too cold. Anyways, Ryujin was too tomboy-ish to do this sort of thing.

As the game progressed on with our entry, I made an interesting observation-- everyone was sitting in "Couple Seats", everyone was sitting with their partners, Yuqi with Lucas, sunbae Irene with sunbae Baekhyun, Tzuyu with Jungkook, and Ryujin... with me. I needed to excuse myself from this awkward situation ASAP. I made some lame excuse that I had to go to the washroom and left the table.

On my way to the washroom, I saw that Hyejoo had actually organised a water party in the swimming pool just outside the chalet. I took a quick glance and saw that they were just clowning around in the pool when I saw a familiar silhouette. I took a closer look, it was Yuna! OK, now things just got real, I had to get out of here before Yuna saw me with Ryujin and got the wrong idea.

As I walked back to the table, I thought of some lame excuse that could get myself out. Stomachache? A relative who needs help? These were all too cliche, I needed something that would seem more realistic. I took a glance at the clock, it was half past nine. The water party outside was probably going to end soon and knowing Yuna, she would probably come to the place with the greatest crowd after she was done. Here. I needed to think of an excuse, and quickly.

As I was lost in my own thoughts, thinking of an excuse, someone spun the bottle and somehow, it pointed straight at Ryujin and I. I jolted out my reverie, I realised that it was actually Yuqi and Lucas who were going to ask us.

Ryujin quickly answered "Truth". Lucas looked at us and said,

"Now what question can we ask you..."

Then, Yuqi had a mischievous grin out her face, she whispered something into Lucas's ear and then he grinned too.

"Ryujin and Kyungsoo, our question is... are you two in a relationship?"

The whole crowd instantly quietened down, eager to hear our answer.

At the same, Ryujin and I answered "Yes" and "No", respectively.
