"Kanpaai!"
After knocking their glasses against each other, everyone drank their champagne. Misty wasn't a big fond of having a drink at ten in the morning, so she just touched the glass with her lips and pulled it away. At least no one saw her do that because they were busy gulping down the alcohol.
Since Ash was busy laughing and drinking with his coworkers, Misty retreated to the back. She looked around the place. It was a fun place to work at. There were pictures and posters of game characters hung everywhere. It was a big open space.
"Like it?"
Misty turned to her left.
Angie raised her glass. "I'm Angie, by the way."
"I've heard a lot about you from Ash." From Leaf mostly, but she shouldn't tell her that. "I'm Misty."
"I know." Angie pointed at Ash with her champagne glass. "You're all he talks about."
Misty blushed slightly and ran her hand through her hair.
"He made a character based on you." Angie sipped her drink, her eyes not leaving a certain raven-haired. "It's featured in the game we launched today."
"Well, she doesn't look exactly like me..." Misty pointed to her breasts and chuckled. Maybe the character looked more like Angie body wise, but she isn't saying that.
"Men want us to look perfect – but look at them." Angie pointed at Ash who was trying to stuff two pizza slices into his mouth. "I mean, I love food too, but what's his problem?"
"Oh, I'm use to him doing that." That's pretty much Misty's everyday life now that Brock was no longer around to stop Ash from emptying the fridge all at once.
Angie glanced at her. It was a dirty one. "It must be fun to have him around."
Misty looked at her, shooting her a glare. "You know better."
"You mean when we're working together or when we kissed at my house?"
"Ash is fun in both cases." Misty was trying not to blow.
Angie chuckled. "You don't know details, do you?"
Misty wasn't that far from grabbing Angie's head and smashing it against the buffet table, but since Ash cared somehow about this girl, she wasn't going to do that.
"What details?"
"Look, I play and make games for a living, okay? I don't hold grudges." She told the redhead. "You kiss a guy; he gets a boner but moans the name of another girl – who do you think he was fantasizing about?"
Misty said nothing.
"Hey, I'm not complaining. I get my lunches with him; we still hang out at my house. We're good. I'm not going to kiss him – not that he'd let me near those lips. He always finds a way to bring you up when we're talking. I'm so tired of hearing your name, but you're his girl, and I'm his friend, and I listen to what he says. Just because you like someone doesn't mean you'll end up with them. Life sucks, but you live it."
"Well..." Misty took a deep breath. "He likes your cupcakes."
Angie laughed. "Thank god he has low standards. I use the same dough for everything I make."
Misty was either too sensitive, either Angie was implying Ash's standards were so low he picked her. Wait, that can't be. She's too sensitive. The girl is just talking about food. Anyway, Ash always tells Misty she's sensitive. She cried hard when Brock finished packing the things in his room.
Angie slapped Misty's back. "Ever played the Wii?"
Misty blinked.
"Come." Angie put her empty glass on a nearby table and dragged Misty to the Wii space they had set in the middle of their big office.
"Look at the girlfriends." Gary put his arm over Ash's shoulders as they watched Angie help Misty wear the Wii remote correctly around her wrist. "Getting along."
"She's stealing my friend!" Leaf was already frustrated enough as she couldn't get a single sip of the champagne because of this pregnant belly. Now, Angie was trying to become Misty's friend. Why was the world against her?
"Can we name the baby Angie?" Gary asked his fiancée.
Ash looked over at Leaf. "It's a girl?"
"Yes" Leaf breathed heavily. She put her hair behind her ear. "Maybe a little more..."
Gary turned slowly toward her. "What do you mean...?"
"When we had that conversation, you didn't let me finish. You were cutting me off every time."
"Am I still supposed to be here?" Ash felt awkward.
"What are you talking about?" Gary snapped. "You told me it's a girl!"
"I said we're having girls." Leaf nodded. "We're having twins and you need to redo your grammar, babe."
Gary closed his eyes for a moment. Ash was about to leave but Gary grabbed his hand and pointed at Leaf. "This is what awaits you! Look at the result of me loving this woman! She lies to me and tricks me!"
"But, uh, look at the bright side." Ash gulped. "More offspring, more... Oaks. Yaaay..."
"You know what?" Gary said. "Fine. I'm naming one Canon and you can't stop me."
Ash put on his headphones so he doesn't have to participate in this conversation anymore.
"I'm Gary Oak. I'm unstoppable." He raised his glass.
"Please stop reading fanfiction."
