She woke up coughing, choking in fresh air, than the ashy dew she was previously familiar with. Looking at her surroundings, she found herself in and unfamiliar room. Sophie sighed, finally things were getting back to normal. She almost screamed when she saw the blond haired boy, across her sleeping in another chair, drooling on his chin.

Keefe, awake from all the sound groggily said, sleep laced into his voice, "Wha--" His ice blue eyes widened at Sophie. He ran his hand through his hair and said, his face red from embarrassment, "You're awake!"

Sophie gave Keefe a true wide smile that reached her eyes. "You have a bit of drool on the side of your chin." She pointed to her face to signal Keefe where it was.

"No I don't, Foster. In fact, I never drool," he said hurriedly while turning away, and wiped his chin inconspicuously.  She smiled at Keefe's disheveled appearance. Keefe gave her a smirk and said, "This is actually how people look when they wake up." he paused, raking his hand throughout his wavy hair. "Only the Mysterious Ms. F, can look good when waking up."

Sophie blushed at the comment and her face went even redder when he said, "Actually, you better get used to this because you are going to get disappointed later in your life." Trying not to figure what he meant, she tried to get out of bed by throwing her covers.

Pain raced through her upper body, when she tried to get up. Bandages covered her torso, and she felt naked, as the bandages covered her chest and stomach like a tube top. It was very noticeable that the bandages were the only thing that covered her upper body. She squirmed in embarrassment but that was the wrong thing to do as she realized what was happening.

Keefe's smile fell. "Oh, yeah about that." he paused to hold his hand on the back of his head shyly as if sad, "You can't move, can you?"

Sophie, unable to speak anything just nodded, forcing her to move her legs but they just wouldn't budge. Sophie clenched her hands in anger, but she soothed herself when she realized that she could do that. "I can move my arms a little bit, but from the waist down, I-- I can't." Her voice cracked at the end.

Keefe felt helpless. He couldn't help her make her feel better, because this was a set back, a HUGE one. For once in their life, Keefe didn't have anything to say. His demeanor felt cold, like he was murderous for whoever did this to Sophie, but she quickly washed it away thinking that it was a friend-like thing to do.

"Where am I?" Sophie asked to Keefe, wondering why she wasn't at Havenfield. Keefe hesitated like Sophie would be afraid of the answer and Sophie became more suspicious. She feared the answer as her voice wobbled as she repeated, "Keefe, where am I?"

"Candleshade." Keefe paused taking a deep breath as he said, "Havenfield's gone."

The news hit Sophie, as all the blood drained up to her head. Her head was pounding as she said, "What happened?"

Opening his mouth to speak her explained everything. "Once Grady realized you guys where gone, he hailed you and Edaline, but you guys didn't answer. He called Fitz and me, and all the others if they had seen you or Edaline, but we all said we hadn't seen you that day. He was at Everglen before. Alden had stopped him from going by himself to Havenfield and rounded up us to go to Havenfield." He paused like telling this information had physically hurt him. "When we were there we could hear screams, your's and Edaline's." His voice turned deathly quite and pale as he whispered, "We saw the fire through the windows, and we tried to get it but we couldn't. But suddenly Edaline was beside us lying down on the ground and twitching. She told us everything and we-" His voice choked up for a minute, and Sophie let him rest for a minute. "Fintan had trapped you guys, and there was no way we could get in. Thankfully, Dex was there and he had this gadget that could blow things apart and we all launched it to the house." Sophie remembered the plates crashing down onto the floor, and the house trembling. Keefe looked so guilty at Sophie as he responded, "If we had realized earlier- "
