I Love You | Chapter III

When Nini got out of the house to find who was outside, to her surprise it was his mother's boyfriend but without Ricky's mom. Nini went to talk to him since she knew Ricky wouldn't try to get to know him she decided to take his place, and get to know him. She didn't invite him over but she asked how he had met Ricky's mom and when so that she could know if he was a possible stepfather for Ricky or if probably would end in nothing. When they started talking Ricky went to the door to see and hear something. Nini told him to come over after all Todd was nice. Ricky trusted Nini so he went to meet him. Todd seemed proud of Ricky's performance even if he had never met him. They started talking but there was still tension between the two men. Nini realizing this made an emphasis in the time and how they had school the following day. Todd asked if they could meet again the following day. Ricky was speechless so Nini gave him her phone so that they could arrange.

After seeing Todd leave in his convertible Ricky and Nini went inside. Once they were in Nini's room they started discussing what had happened five minutes ago.

-Soo, would you like to see him again or should I ignore him if he texts me?- Nini asked his boyfriend who was still tense.

- I'm not sure, he was nice I won't deny it but what about my dad, he won't be happy and the last thing he needs is me being with my mom's boyfriend. -Ricky said with a low voice.

-I get it, for now, I won't text him, you should talk to your dad anyway.

Nini wanted to make him feel well. She knew that maybe he would never talk to this guy again, however, she wanted him to talk with his dad at least, who was also going through something very hard, and needed his son. That night they decided to sleep in the same room instead of Ricky sleeping in the living room. There wasn't much space in the room so they had to sleep in the same bed. Before going to sleep they started talking about their feelings. Ricky decided to tell Nini why the first time she said I love you he wasn't able. Although it was water under the bridge he felt like he should talk about it.

-Nini, I know that it's over but I wanted to explain to you the reason why I wasn't able to tell you I love you back at that time.

-Ricky, don't worry it's okay. - she said understanding.

-No, I owe you an explanation, I made you go through a horrible time...

-Well maybe, but what matters is that we are happy now.

-Are you sure?-he doubted.

-Yes, look if I've learned something is that people have different paces in life and love. I should've understood that.

-I'm glad that you get it because I did and still love you. You are the most important person in my life. I don't know what I would do without you.

-I love you too Ricky. We should go to sleep, it's late.

They turned off the lights and closed their eyes. Nini fell asleep very fast but Ricky was having trouble. He was drowning in his thoughts "is she okay?" , "what if she doesn't love me anymore?", "Why did I take so long I'm so stupid, it's all my fault", "I just, I wish I had been able to say it sooner, it's not that I didn't feel it if I loved her why couldn't I say it? " After a while trying to go to sleep he gave up. He went downstairs to one of Nini's keyboards. So as not to make noise he connected his headphones and started composing. At about 4 am Nini woke up worried because Ricky wasn't in the bed so she went downstairs and saw him playing the piano so she decided not to interrupt and went back to sleep. At about 5 am Ricky finally went back to sleep, but an hour later the alarm rang.

Nini who had had a beauty sleep was already up and had already showered and done her morning routine. She had woken up a half-hour earlier because she always took long to get ready and now Ricky needed to get ready as well and they had to share the bathroom. When Ricky finally got out of bed he had to get ready in ten minutes because the breakfast was almost ready and at Nini's house they all had breakfast together, it was a family tradition. Luckily boys get ready very quickly so it wasn't a problem, he finished in time for breakfast. They went downstairs to have breakfast and there was plenty of food just like in the movies except that they ate it. After eating what was on the table they prepared their backpacks for school. Instead of going on foot, they decided to go by bicycle, it took less time and they could carry more things in the bicycle basket. They got to school very early so they decided to go to the auditorium. Nini who hadn't told Ricky that she had seen him that night finally told him.
