Encounter 2: Supergirl
The death of Lois Lane hit Superman far worse than any blow by Doomsday, or barrage of Darkseid's Omega Beams. During a visit to the Fortress of Solitude, Lois had been tinkering with a number of controls while Superman had been away preparing a Kryptonian dish for dinner. Just as he returned, he saw a blinding beam of energy obliterate Lois. Nothing remained.
Superman sat in the Fortress, head in his hands, staring down at his boots.
How long ago had it been? Weeks? Months? Seemed like years to him. Lois was gone. What did time matter now?
"Superman?" A hesitant voice called from behind him. He turned slowly, and looked over his shoulder.
A small, slender blond girl stood a few feet away, looking nervous as anything. Her hair fell like sunshine over her cape clad shoulders. A white tank top with a bold "S" emblazoned across the chest stopped just at her sternum. A smooth flat stomach led down to a blue miniskirt, which gave up quickly to a pair of slender long legs ending in short red boots.
Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of Krypton, cousin of Superman, and wielder of all the awesome power that heritage implied, and known to the world as Supergirl.
Superman stared at her for a moment, not saying anything. Supergirl took a cautious step forward and called out to him again.
"Clark?"
Superman grimaced and turned from her. "Please, Kara. I... Please, just anything but that." He felt a small hand grip his shoulder, and heard Kara sit down next to him.
"Kal?" Superman turned to face her. Supergirl's face was not more than a foot from his, and her cyan eyes seemed enormous. They glistened, full of tears. She reached out a white gloved hand and cupped his cheek in her palm.
"There's nothing left for me, Kara. Lois was my reason for...for everything." Superman closed his eyes. "There's nothing left to be done. I am alone." He opened his eyes and looked over a small chamber set into the Fortress's wall. Within its confines, the Fortress could create energy of any type. It could do more than that. It could kill him, if he wanted. Supergirl followed his gaze, and her eyes widened as she realized what he was thinking.
"You're not alone, Kal." Supergirl leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. Then his forehead. She began to pull back, but something flashed in her eyes and she stopped. Kara looked into his eyes for a moment, and then her gaze dropped to his lips. They sat there for what seemed like forever; faces inches apart, Kara staring at his mouth, a confusion of emotion brewing in her face.
Superman knew he should just stand up and walk away. Kara was young and, in some ways, still very naïve. He began to pull back from her, but he too stopped. The thought surged through his mind before he could stop it. No! There was no way he could! This was his cousin. She was like a sister to him! And Lois...
Lois was gone.
Superman's hesitation was enough of an encouragement for Supergirl. She leaned in and kissed him full on the lips. Her tongue snaked eagerly past his lips and toyed with his own. Supergirl leaned into the kiss with the full force of her youthful exuberance, surprising him and setting him down on his back. Supergirl crawled on top of him, pursuing the kiss hungrily. She straddled him, her firm breasts pressed tight against his chest, their "S" insignia's rubbed against each other.
Finally breaking the kiss, Supergirl sat up and looked down at Superman with sudden apprehension. "Is this...Is this wrong, Kal?"
Before he could respond, Superman's manhood began to swell. It rose up under Supergirl, visibly raising her over his groin. She let out a short gasp, and the fear that had been growing in her eyes vanished.
