The Other Half

The world of pleasure began to ebb away slowly, becoming murkier and less real by the second. His mind rose up toward consciousness like a drowning man swimming desperately toward the surface.

"I think he's coming to." A voice spoke distantly.

"He's been coming for a while now." Another replied.

"Goodness, Kara..." The first chided. "What would the Kents say?"

The last son of Krypton forced his eyes open, and found himself staring up at the elegant and shimmering ceiling of his Fortress of Solitude. In spite of the Fortress's title, Superman was not alone.

"Diana," Superman's voice was thick from disuse.

"Welcome back, Kal." Wonder Woman's brilliant smile was full of love as she stood over him.

"Kara?" Superman turned his head to his left and saw his fellow kryptonian.

"Hey, cousin." Supergirl's cheeks flushed as she realized how awkward her greeting was in light of their more intimate relationship.

"Did you enjoy her gift?" Wonder Woman asked. "Was it as good as she promised?"

"Gift?" Superman blinked and sat up. "Wait, I do not understand."

Superman searched his memory, recalling a massive orgy in the Fortress followed by an unending tryst with Wonder Woman, Supergirl and the Lady Maxima. As his mind focused, his memories of these events seemed ever more bizarre.

"All those women..." Superman closed his eyes, trying to rationalize what he had experienced. "How could that have happened?"

"I see that your gift was even more convincing than we had hoped." Wonder Woman nodded approvingly to someone behind Superman's right shoulder. He turned and saw a striking brunette wearing a provocative but tastefully designed female magician outfit, complete with a black top hat.

"I trust you approved?" The woman tipped her hat at Superman.

"Zatanna?" Superman gawked at her. "You mean...it was an illusion?"

"More of a guided vision." Zatanna beamed proudly. "It was a gift to you."

Superman got to his feet and turned to her. "It was astounding. Now it seems strange and unbelievable, but it was a remarkable experience nonetheless." Superman smiled. "Thank you."

"Glad I could be of assistance." Zatanna cocked an eyebrow and bowed to the three superheroes. "I should be heading off, though."

"Before you go," Superman interjected. "Why were you in the vision?"

"Wow, really?" Supergirl gasped, her eyes filling with mischief. "What was she doing?"

"Let's just say I have my own little fantasies." Zatanna said slyly. "Farewell, and may you enjoy reality as much as fantasy."

There was a flash of light and Zatanna was gone.

"Do you want to hear about the vision?" Superman turned back to Wonder Woman and Supergirl. "I take it Zatanna left out some details."

"Perhaps later." Wonder Woman waved his offer away. "Since Starfire and Raven left, Kara and I have been without company for nearly a week now."

"We want to welcome you back to the real world in style." Supergirl giggled.

"Well, if you insist." Superman shrugged his shoulders in faux apathy.

Supergirl and Wonder Woman both began spinning in a blur of movement. After a moment they stopped, and Superman felt his breath catch in his throat. Supergirl stood before him with her red cape tied around her neck, her red boots and nothing else. Wonder Woman wore nothing save her tiara, bracelets and her own knee-high boots.
