seven years later
jungkook just finished his shift in the flower shop that he'd been a co-owner of ever since the summer after graduation. after putting away his apron, he turned over to his co-worker."thank you for today, seowoo." he said with a smile.
"of course, you should go now, minjee is probably waiting for you again." she mentioned and he nodded.
"you're right, i'll see you tomorrow!" he left the shop and made his way to the kindergarten where his daughter, minjee, spent her weekdays.
it was a sunny late afternoon in the summer. kids were playing in the park and couples were out on dates. it was peaceful. after a ten minute car ride he parked outside of the kindergarten. as soon as he walked inside, minjee ran into his arms.
"minjee! how was your day?" he asked her, smiling softly.
"it was fun!" she answered excitedly.
minjee was known for being very sociable for a three year old. probably from growing up around her parents who were sociable themselves. after jungkook had helped her with her shoes they said goodbye, minjee sweetly waving to her teacher who waved back.
"are we meeting dad?" she asked curiously as she noticed that they were making their way over to her favorite park.
"we are, he's waiting for us." he answered and she smiled.
he held her hand tightly as they made their way to the park which was on the other side of the road. they passed a patch of flowers and she stopped, pulling his hand to show that she wanted to walk over there. he followed her and she picked a few blue flowers before handing one of them to him.
"it's for you!" she smiled brightly as he crouched down to her level and held out his hand.
she placed the flower in the palm of his hand and he looked at it.
"it's beautiful, thank you minjee." he smiled and patted her on her head.
"you're welcome. dad!" she said before running and he followed along, a bright smile on his face as he noticed who it was.
"minjee, did you have fun today?" taehyung asked, picking her up and hugging her.
"i did!" she answered as jungkook approached them.
"what about you?" taehyung asked as he looked over at jungkook.
"as fun as work can be." he answered and they laughed.
minjee was full of energy and wanted to go play. taehyung put her down and she ran over to play with the other kids. jungkook and taehyung sat down on a nearby bench where they could keep an eye on her.
"ah, i'm happy." taehyung said out of the blue.
"me too. i'm so glad that we could get this far." jungkook said, intertwining their fingers.
"minjee is such a blessing. how could we have ended up with such an adorable girl?" taehyung asked himself in awe as he lovingly watched his daughter play with her friends.
"we really are the luckiest." jungkook agreed as his phone suddenly started ringing.
"hello?"
"jungkook, oh my god!" hoseok exclaimed on the other side of the line.
"what's wrong?" he asked worriedly.
"miyu just got into labour and we're at the hospital! i'm so nervous!" hoseok explained.
"really? take a deep breath, you'll meet your son soon." he reassured.
"i'm so nervous..." hoseok said, taking a deep breath.
"i understand, go and support miyu. don't forget to update us when he's born!" he mentioned.
"of course!"
"good luck now, i know you'll be an amazing dad." he reassured and smiled.
"thank you, i'll call you later!" hoseok said before they hung up.
"what's up?" taehyung asked and jungkook turned to him.
"hoseok and miyu are having their son right now!" he revealed and taehyung smiled.
"really? i can't wait to see him."
"me too. i bet he'll look just like hobi." jungkook mentioned.
minjee ran up to them and jumped up in jungkook's lap.
"wanna go home." she said and yawned.
"yeah, let's go home. it's late." jungkook said as he stood up, carrying minjee.
he grabbed taehyung's hand as they made their way to the car.
"now we just have to wait for jimin and yoongi to become parents and we'll all be parents." jungkook joked.
"i bet it'll be soon. jimin cries as soon as he sees a baby because he wants one so bad. i'm sure that he'll be an amazing dad." taehyung answered with a fond smile.
"i'm sure he will. i want minjee to make more friends and i'm sure that they'll be just as close as our friend group." jungkook said and smiled to himself.
"i really hope so, it would be amazing if that's the case." taehyung said and looked up at the sky.
"it's a beautiful day." jungkook mentioned as he noticed taehyung staring at the sky.
"it is. i'm so happy to be alive." he answered, taking a deep breath of the air.
"i'm so happy you're alive too. i love you." jungkook said softly, squeezing taehyung's hand slightly.
"i love you too." taehyung answered, stopping to leave a quick kiss on jungkook's lips.
taehyung had finally found his place in the world with his family, jungkook and minjee. he had finally accepted himself and loved himself, embracing the fact that he doesn't feel pain. instead seeing it as a blessing. because at the end of the day, who wants to feel pain?
