chapter 2.—✰
A few days later...
Jack had spent the days looking for ways to get his name out into Gotham.
He had been "attending meetings." He recently crashed a mob meeting and completely scared them.
Jack knew it was risky starting with the big dogs but there was no time to waste. He made sure to leave his "card" behind. This would be his trademark. Something to be remembered by...The word of a clown with a cheap purple suit had already been spread around through mob leaders and gangs. Some of them wanted him dead while others thought he could be a good addition to their groups.
Jack wasn't concerned at all. He was getting recognized and it was only a matter of time before Gotham's citizens would have to be on the look out for a "Psycho Killer On The Loose."Jack had been driving around Gotham City creating multiple plans for his next move. He had to admit being a villain was hard. He wanted to bring something new to Gotham... something they had never truly seen. He thought of himself as very theatrical. He had already chosen a clown persona for his looks.
That had to be eye catching... clowns were suppose to be innocent and bring joy to children.
In a way it still represented him. Or at least his older self. But his little twist to the clown character would definitely be ground breaking. He just knew it.Jack stopped his car when he came across a bank. A typical bank robbery would be a nice start.
He got out of his car and walked through the entrance.
Although he was wearing regular civilian clothes, some heads still turned in his direction with disgusted looks plastered on their faces. Of course he stood out from the bunch.
The scars on both sides of his face stretched across his face creating a permanent smile.
Some people would give him a few side eyes too afraid to look at him.Jack walked over to a large table in the middle of the bank. He pretended to fill out a check.
He was observing everything in the bank. Every single detail he could get his eyes on, he would write it down on the check.
He noted the camera placements. He even noted the amount of people that were coming in the bank.
He noted the police officer guarding the bank as his last observation before putting the check in his pocket and walking out.
The time on his watch read '3:47pm.'He started his car and drove into traffic. He watched the school buses start to file up into the incoming traffic as well.
This was all too perfect.
Rush hour had started and everyone was wandering around the city.
Jack's mind raced wildly as he patiently sat in his car. He couldn't wait to get home and create a deeper plan. Everything was coming together nicely and he felt unstoppable. He couldn't help but let out a small giggle.
All he needed to do now was get a team. But with all the greedy people in Gotham, that wouldn't so hard. A bank robbery would take a team effort and he knew that the money would do the talking.Jack had finally made it to his humble home after hours of waiting in traffic. He parked his car outside and double checked to see if he locked it. He had become paranoid that one of the homeless would pull a stunt on him and steal his car. He could steal a new one any day but he had grown attached to his rusty old car.
He opened his room door and quickly kicked off his shoes getting comfortable. He turned on his tv for background noise and made his way to his desk. He took the check out of his pocket overlooking the notes he took.
He felt proud of himself. The information was more than enough. He began to write an outline of his plan.
He decided to assign a dress code along with masks to the men completing the task. This would make it easier for him to distinguish them without seeing their face. After making a couple of phone calls, he told some of the men willing to help him to spread the word.
This would take a while but as soon as he got the men for the task his plan would be complete.
He smiled slightly as he thought of his menacing plan.
Jack went to sit on his bed. He watched as the news reporter blabbered about Bruce Wayne and the press following him around with microphones.
He rolled his eyes at the sight. To him, Bruce was just a rich snob who's had everything handed to him his whole life.
Jack snapped out of his thoughts when the news changed their topic to Batman. Now this was something exciting... Batman had yet again put another criminal in arkham asylum.
He thought it was ridiculous. What was the point of helping out a city that would never do the same for you. There was no gain. This intrigued him.Jack had enough of the news and decided to have a quick smoke.
He stared out the open window with the cigarette in between his fingers. Just as he was about to put the cigarette back in his mouth, he spotted someone walking on his building's sidewalk. Jack almost chocked when he realized who it was.
It was the same girl who had been wandering around a couple days ago.
She was walking around holding her backpack's straps tightly. Her hair was slightly messier than the last time he saw her but she was wearing different clothes.
He backed away from the window making sure she wouldn't see him.
Jack reached for his switchblade uncertain what he would even use it for.He watched the girl pass by his window not giving his building a glance. She kept walking straight and Jack watched her disappear into the foggy distance.
He put his knife back down and smiled at how he had armed himself over a child. He looked out his window one last time before closing it.He had a good day and was excited for all things coming his way but all he could think of was the girl.
Jack was easily attracted to mysteries. That's why he had grown a strange obsession over Batman. He wanted to know the man under the mask.
It was the same with the girl. She randomly came out of no where and now he'd seen her twice. He wondered if she belonged to one of the homeless. Yet, her clothes looked pretty clean and store bought.
His brain was only feeding his curiosity even more.
Jack would need to keep an eye on her.—✰
