Obelia School: Kindergarten {COMPLETED}

Part 11

Lucas is in confusion right now. 'Dinner at a restaurant? Why? Did they hit their head or something? At home is fine, so what's wrong?'

He got even confused when he saw his entire family in the restaurant. His grandfather, grandmother, great-grandfather, great-grandmother, aunties, uncles, father, mother, younger brother, even his youngest brother who is still a baby!

At this moment, he realized...

they had the entire restaurant reserved!

"What the heck?"

"Just come in already, Lucas" His mother called out to him.

Lucas entered the restaurant and sat beside his parents and brothers. All plates and cutleries were served to everyone.

"The dishes are almost ready. Please enjoy our signature coffee while waiting." A waitress came serving them coffee... wait no, it's a guy! Putting that aside, can children drink coffee? What about babies?

"I'm sorry but tea is fine, we have three young children here." Lucas' father voiced out.

"Worry not, this coffee can be drank by all ages." The waiter left sticks of coffee powder on the tables.

"..." Everyone were speechless, including Lucas.

"How is instant coffee their signature coffee..." Lucas' relatives pointed out.

Well it's true though. No one expected a signature coffee to be instant coffee. The taste is normal too.

"Come to think of it, I think he was drinking this too went I went to meet him for reservation."

"Why do you need to meet him? Can't you just call?" Lucas asked his mother.

"This is a big thing, my dear. We are reserving the entire restaurant, which means no other customers could enter."

'Wait, if you're meeting him for reservation, means... he's the manager?' Lucas thought.

He looked around and saw the manager sitting in a corner, carefully opening a stick of instant coffee powder, poured it into a cup, stir it with the packaging and drank it sip by sip.

Not long after, the dishes came. There were a whole lot of dishes placed in front of him that he doubt he could finish them.

Before eating, he saw the manager drinking another cup of instant coffee again. While eating, he looked up and saw him drinking another cup again. When he was about to take a second plate, he saw him drinking another cup again. When he barely finished the dishes, he saw him drinking another cup.

'Did he drink too much coffee until he thinks it's their signature coffee?' Lucas thought.

Not long after, a big cake came. The manager stood up and placed a chair beside Lucas. He sat there, drinking another cup of his instant coffee.

"What do you want, you coffee addict?"

"That's quite rude of you to talk to me like that, pretty boy. I'm the manager of this restaurant you know" He finally placed the cup on the table and stood up. He came back with a lighter.

The waiters a d waitresses switched off the ectricity, and the manager lit up the candle on the cake with the lighter.

"Go on, Lucas. It's your cake." Lucas' mother pushed him.

When Lucas went closer to the cake, he realized, all the reservations and big feast tonight was to celebrate his birthday when he saw 'Happy Birthday Dear Lucas' written on the top of the cake.

After singing the birthday song, Lucas blew the candle on the cake, and the electricity were turned back on.

Lucas' mother sliced the cake and served everyone, each a slice, including Lucas.

"Why now?" Lucas asked while eating the cake. "My birthday is next week"

"Well, your father and I are going on a business trip tomorrow and won't be back by your birthday, so we'll celebrate it now before it's too late." Lucas' mother answered while patting his head.

'There they go again, always leaving me home alone.' Thought Lucas.

But Lucas didn't care, since he got used to it. They went home after eating the cake.

When Lucas woke up the next morning, his parents had already left. His mother left breakfast for the children on the table. He ate and told his little brother to take good care of their youngest brother. Then he picked up his bag and walked to the kindergarten, since it's not that far.

Did I say I'll update tomorrow? Ehem. Forget that. I managed to finish it so fast so might as well update 2 today as apologies for not updating often.

Well it was longer than I expected. I added the coffee addict to extend the chapter. By the way, the coffee addict is Yu Han Sung from Tower of God. For those who aren't familiar, it has an anime adaption now and it's a great story. The webtoon has 400+ chapters already, which is 3 seasons. I recommend that story.

I didn't expect to be able to finish this chapter so soon. The next chapter will be a time skip to next week, Lucas' birthday, which will take a long time since I'm getting busy lately. I have lots of school work, and I have no inspiration nor motivation to write. I will update when I'm ready to do so. See you all in the next chapter!
