I was riding my bike down the street in an autumn afternoon. There are few leaves started falling and some of them landed on my shoulders. They were yellow with small brown spots on them.
It makes a cracking or crunchy sound as I pass by. At this moment, I admit that I feel free and happy.
The father's day party in our class went good so far, except for the fact that my dad wasn't there.
I stopped by at this little flower shop and bought some roses then head towards the cemetary. I walk towards my grandfather's grave and took a deep breath, "Hi, grandpa." I said, then I gaze at the headstone just beside my grandpa's and smiled.
"Hey, Dad."
I put the roses down and sat down aswell. I took the envelopes out of my bag where the letters are inside. Ms. Abigail is the one who made everyone on class write their messages for their fathers before the party.
I gave one envelope for my grandpa and the other for my dad.
My grandpa died in cancer when I was six while my dad died because he joined the Army when I was twelve. That was three years ago.
I was thinking of a rainbow. It appears in the sky and you would look at it for a long time, as though it's like one of the most beautiful things you've ever seen, but it doesn't stay in the sky permanently.
I never really knew that people are like rainbows. They would appear in your life then one day they're going to disappear.
I know it hurts when you lose someone who's really important to you and the one who you needed the most, but the most painful thing is you never heard them saying goodbye and their final words to you. Like my dad who died when he gave his life during a war. I just didn't get why some of these soldiers' sacrifices went unappriciated.
Just imagine how they fight and gave their own lives so we won't do it ourselves. The life we're living right now? It's because of them. If they didn't defend us then there would be a lot of dead people, wrecked homes, poverty, etc.
My dad is a great man. People just don't see how he gave his blood and sweat just to protect all of us together with the other soldiers.
I said goodbye to grandpa and my dad after about an hour passed. The sky is turning gray and I felt small raindrops went down my face.
I was a few meters away from the cemetary while riding my bike but I saw this strange man walking pass by my dad's grave and took the flowers that I put down there. I stopped pedaling and observed the man.
He has an umbrella with him although he already has a hoodie. He was standing there and mummbling something.
Then he kneel down and placed the umbrella on the tombstone. Why is he putting an umbrella on the grave? I find it funny.
He stood up and started to walk away, then he saw me staring at him. His face was covered with his long black hair and his eye is the only thing that is revealed. I almost collapsed when he caught me but I quickly start pedaling to get away.
Great. That was a brilliant idea. I should never have spy on him and just let him take the flowers. Now some weirdo will remember me. Good thing I reacted fast when I saw him looked at me. He couldn't have remember my face anyway. Hopefully...
