You know being Yash is really difficult? Like everyday,  get up, go to a school that you hate, look at your crush the entire day pretending to be her 'friend' when you already have married her in 15 different ways in your dreams, and then get the hell beaten up by her dad for god-knows-what reasons..

That. That was the exact train of thoughts playing through my mind on loop. At the end of the 56th run, I started  gaining conciousness slowly.

My eyes were still closed. There was an unusual chill in the atmosphere; it was not just cold, it was freezing.

"Why is it suddenly so cold??..Ahhhh this climate change sucks!  And why are my clothes so tight??!" I thought to myself. Yeah. I do talk to myself aloud. It helps me NOT FREAK OUT.

Finally I gained the strength to lift my eyelids. It was almost dark but some blue light entered my eyes. I could see the ceiling now. It was dark silver grey.

"Who paints their ceiling grey man? Hey, Jen's attic has a silver paint...Oh wait could that mean I am in Jen's attic?? Is it that Jen's dad knows that I tried to kiss her last week..."

                                                                   ***

Well, it so happened last week. We were playing Jenga in her room, having a gala time. I was struck by a lightening every time I saw her.

Eyes as blue as a sky, hair like that of a "head and shoulders" ad model, smile that could knock you out of your senses every DAMN time. I loved being with her, looking at her with puppy eyes every time she tied her hair up in a bun. But the BEST PART??

She. Doesn't. Know.

Shocking, right? No. I was happy just to be able to sit with her. She was too precious to lose.

Always loved playing Jenga because it had 'Jen' in it. Yeah. A hopeless romantic I am.

And now she was smiling, and I could keep watching her for eternity like that.
"I can never get tired of this view...." I thought blushingly.

Just so when everything was perfect her mom interrupted.

"Jen!"

"Ya mom??"

"I need a hand over here". She rushed downstairs and I followed her.

"Can you go and Yash go to the attic and get me the new frying pan ? I need it today."

"Ya sure..c'mon Yash follow me."

"ALWAYS..." I muttered sheepishly.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing" I said with utmost ease.

We went down to the attic. It was damp; plus there was some weird smell. Jen moved some stuff and called me,
"Hold from this side...."

Involuntarily I placed my hand on hers. I looked straight into her eyes and moved closer. There was an eerie silence around. No one moved a muscle. We stood there looking at each other like never before. I, for myself could not shift my gaze. I felt like telling everything that I felt about her. But my lips didn't move. My body had a new master. Jen.

It was about it.

But then she dashed out off the attic. I directly went home and we never talked about it after that.
----------------------------

Coming back to present I thought, " Man this must be for that. But swinging a club at a small kid for that? It's so weird. But again they've painted their ceiling grey..."

I was on my knees now. Though my sight was dizzy, my body felt powerful. I could see the light in the corner of a room and some strange figure sitting on floor just below it.

"I am so sorry uncle..!!" I yelled.

"But beating me up is too much" I walked up. I saw myself in a mirror. I had the same clothes on, but I looked a bit older. Almost 5 years older.

"What the hell?!!! Hey man what is happening?"

I could see the person clearly now. It was Jen's dad and he was eating a live mouse he had just caught.

(No. Now's NOT the time. Please understand the gravity of the situation. I really should not say the pun now. Okay. Just for this once? Hell Yeah!!)

" uhghgh Uncle? What's that? 'RAT'atouille??"

(My mind DOES NOT know when to shut up. You will see further down the story, that that's how I always get in trouble.)

I tried shouting but felt like vomiting and decided against it. This time I fainted again. You must be thinking what a snob this guy is?

Well.......

You are right. Damn! I should have thought about a comeback for that!!
