"I can only remember parts of my life from before he took me here. I can't even remember my own name. I use the name that SHE gave me. I feel like I should tell you what happened to me."
"It was just my, my mother, and my younger sister who lived where I used to call my home. I did have a father, but one day there was an accident where he worked, leaving me as the man of the house. I remember one winter was longer than usual so we ran out of logs for the fire. My mother used to be strong, but after father's accident she weakened, both physically and mentally. Once the chill had seeped into the house I remember her trying to cover up her coughs. I was worried but I didn't panic until the snow fell. Mother was outside, she was claiming that she was feeling much better, I didn't believe her but she insisted that she could look after herself. I remember that my sister had ran into where I was, tears threatening to spill out of her baby blue eyes, I remember her eyes well as they were the same colour as father's were, while mine were hazel like mother's. She was saying something I didn't understand, however I saw the blood in her blond hair and I understood. I followed my sister into the garden and I saw the blood on the snow, in contrast with the whiteness of the snow I don't understand why I didn't see it before. Me and my sister, it's funny as hard as I try I can't remember her name either, but we carried mother into the house. My sister said she was going to was the blood off mother and that I should get a doctor, but as I went to run out the door she told me to get changed, I still remember how bloodstained I was. I sighed as I went into my room to get into something more presentable. I grabbed the closest articles of clothing I could, a simple pair of brown knee length shorts and a long button up white shirt. I exclaimed irritatedly as my shorts started to fall down, so as I was leaving my room I put on plain black braces to hold my pants up. I went to tell my sister that I was going to get a doctor, she told me that if I wasn't back by a certain time she would have to get old Mr Steven from next door to look after mother when she went to get a doctor, I sighed and told her it wouldn't be needed. As I left the house I heard mother coughing, I saw through the doorway her light brown hair saw soaked in her own blood. I gulped and ran outside. I sprinted to the market place calling out for a doctor, I'm sure by then I was crying hysterically. Just as I was giving up hope I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, I turned and saw I am looking worried, I couldn't see his eyes from the way the light was shining on his glasses. He asked me what was wrong but I was crying too hard to reply. He led me away from the other people, by them I was able to tell him what was wrong. He patted me on the back and said to come with him to get medicine for my mother. I wondered why he didn't go to see my mother but I didn't question it. He took me to an unbelievably huge house that put my minuscule house to shame. He took me into a small room, I thought that it was a waiting room or something. As he was leaving I asked him his name, he smiled and told me his name was Dr Alfred Drevis. When he closed the door he said he would get me when he needed me, I heard a faint clicking sound, but I thought nothing of it. I looked around the room, I saw a simple bed and a small adjoining room with a toilet and sink. I looked closer at a darker patch on the floor, I jumped back in fright when I realised it was blood. I'm not sure how long I was in there for, but after a while a nurse came in and introduced herself as Maria. She was nice, she gave me food, but the food was gross but I ate it because I didn't want to be rude. I lied on the bed, it smelt funny and was an unappealing white grey colour, I looked up at the slightly cracked dark grey roof. After i though about it I realised everything I've seen in that room was a shade of grey, even the food. After a while I fell asleep, however that didn't last long as I heard faint screaming echoing down the hallway. I just curled into a ball after that, until Maria had brought down more grey blobs to eat. I'm not sure how long I was here for but after at least twenty of the disgusting meals Maria said that Dr Drevis needed me. I didn't trust either of them and when I didn't follow her she pulled me out of the room, I still remember that her nails really hurt when they stab into you. She pulled me down a hallway and into a dark room. She made me lie on a cold, metal bench as she put metal slabs down over me so I couldn't move, not that I didn't try to wiggle out though. The room smelt vaguely like antiseptic and another smell I couldn't place until now, it was the smell of death. When the lights flickered on I looked around, I saw large cabinets full of chemicals and a man taking one of the chemicals out of one of them. He walked over to me and wrote something in the red book he had with him. He leaned over me and stared at my eyes he wrote another thing in his book and signalled something to Maria, who brought over some kind of large scoop. He wrote another thing in his book and walked over to my left eye. I could hear him muttering, he said "The left eye would be a perfect replacement" I didn't understand what he meant but he placed the scoop just below my eye. I shut both my eyes tightly until Maria forcefully pulled my left eye open. I opened my other eye and I could feel the scoop slowly moving up to my eye, she pulled my eyelid back even further than she already had it. I felt the scoop touch my eye and slowly move down into my eye socket. I tried to scream because of the pain but she put the hand that wasn't holding my eye open over my mouth. He made a tutting sound with his tongue as he continued to move the scoop, I winced when I felt the metal scrape my skull. He jerked his hand up and with a sickening pop I felt my eye leave my head. I saw him give it to Maria who took it into a different room. He them brought the chemical over to me and wrote another thing in his book. He said aloud "Test to see the effect of Chemical X on a subject." and began to pour it over the left side of my face and stepped away, he watches me and recorded what I did in the book. I screamed as the chemical began to burn my face. I thrashed around in an attempt to get it off, but all that did was make it splash my neck. That didn't last long though because moments after, I blacked out. When I woke up I could still feel the burning, but it was nowhere near as intense as before. A woman I didn't know came over to my and smiled sadly when she saw my face. She asked me what my name was but I told her I couldn't remember, so she ruffled my hair and called me "Dio" she said that if she had a son that's what she would of called him. She told me that I was the first that she was able to successfully bring back with a mind so I was special. She asked me to help her, I agreed because, well honestly I'm not sure why. She said when we were done that I needed to get her daughter out of here before she got hurt, so I agreed again, after all it was the right thing to do. She smiled and ruffled my hair again, I was happy."
"That is what happened to me, I promised to look after her daughter and that's what I did. You know what? I honestly feel better after saying it out aloud."
