Goodbye

(Do you hear the people sing?)

France walked stoically on his land, covered in flames and polluted air. His once flashy clothes are now dull and burnt.

(Singing a song of angry men?)

France looked up at the sky as rain poured down, the fire dying and got a flash back: "Behead her!" The people shouted, banging their pitch forks and guns. "All hail France!" another one shouted making an up roar. He was watching from the top of the bell tower, his queen being punished. The queen of France knelt quietly, her head in a guillotine causing her to loll her head.

(It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again!)

She tried to raise her head and her eyes landed on France's figure. Though she can't see his features, even though her eyes are blurry, she knows it's France. She knows he's watching.

Unknown to anyone, she gave him a smile and mouthed a 'Merci Boku'. The guillotine knife slid down to cut her head off and France clenched his eyes closed before he could see it.

(When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums)

France walked through a flower pathway. The rained stopped and the whole world looks nothing but gray. The once green leaves are now black and the roses are all burnt up except for one. France picked it put and sniffed it.

He continued to walk with a heavy heart until he found a woman's body: Jeanne D' Arc.

(There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes!)

"Fr...ance?" she weakly called to him. Her body is full of burnt marks and one side of her mouth is dripping with blood. She's paralyzed all over except her nape.

"Bonjour~" France tried to sound happy for her as he kneeled down to her level. "I was about to think you'd be abandoning me," she smiled a fake smile. "And why would you think that mademoiselle?" France asked. "I mean look at your country, it's burnt and hideous. Knowing you, you'd just be supinely watching the sky" she laughed at the thought.

"Why would I leave you? I love you," France placed his hand over her cold ones, trying to fight back tears.

"I'm sorry," He told her. "I wasn't able to save you,"

Jeanne blinked at him then let out a small giggle. "Oh Francis," she said. "I would never get mad at you."

Silence took over them for a while.

Jeanne took a deep breathe and sang softly to him.

"When this heart of mine stops
I'm sure it was happy of it's life,"

Francis started crying and Jeanne fought herself to wipe those tears away.

"C'mon Francis, cheer up. Your country needs you." She lifted his face and gave him a kiss on the forehead.

"I'll miss you," she then brought his head to her chest where he cried softly.

A few moments later, her hand ran down his hair and on the concrete floor.

That's it, she died.

"I'll miss you too, Jeanne," Francis sobbed and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

I am sorry alright. Not for the story but for my history intelligence. I forgot who Jeanne D' Arc is. I'm not sure if she's the queen or the soldier. Can't remember but meh. And I'm crying like hell because of the video I just posted in the first chapter.
