Chapter Nine, Charlie's Talks with Sirius and Remus

Once Remus had arrived back home; Dora staying with her mother for a bit longer with their son, Sirius filled him in on what had happened with his talk with Aurora and George and what it had uncovered. Remus demanded they had a talk with Charlie before he was allowed anywhere near his cub in that manner and Sirius reassured him that George was on his way back to the shop and would send Charlie straight here.

Ten minutes had passed Remus and Sirius were sat in the drawing room awaiting the arrival of Charlie when the floo suddenly flared to life, a few seconds later Charlie appeared brushing soot off of his magenta suit. "What's the matter Sirius? Remus? Did things get sorted between Rory and George? He wouldn't tell me just said you needed to speak with me." Charlie asked as he stepped over the fire grate searing himself in an armchair. Sirius and Remus shared a tense look before looking back at the dragon tamer. "We know you have feelings for Rory." Was all Remus said and with that one sentence Charlie paled drastically as he sank back into the armchair stammering as he rushed his words out.

"I...I would never do anything to hurt Rory never. I care too much about her and I know she loves Fred greatly but I do love her I always have. I haven't tried to rush her or even let her know how I feel I've just been supporting her through everything she's going through with Amaya and my idiotic mother and sister. If things do happen I will love Amaya as my own but I will also let her know about Fred as she grows I'll never try to replace him for her but I will be a dad to her. Not just because she is my niece and I love her but because I love her mother." Charlie rambled hoping they would believe him and wouldn't curse him, he knew how protective they were of Rory.

The room was tense and silent as Sirius and Remus did nothing but stare at him. Admittedly it made him extremely nervous and he was terrified at what they would do to him he knew they were notorious pranksters back in their days at school but he kept his nerve, he wouldn't be the best dragon tamer if he couldn't keep his nerve in dangerous situations. After another thirty minutes Remus finally spoke. "Good. We had to make sure what your intentions were for my cub and her cub. They come first and you must know that to Rory Amaya coming first is always going to take first priority. Now, you have our blessing to start a relationship with her as she feels the same way about you."

"She does?" Charlie asked stunned.
"Yes." Sirius said firmly. "That is why she has been so stressed she was scared about what George and I would say even though she had no need to. But, you are to take it at her pace and her pace only, if we feel you are not there will be serious consequences." Sirius said seriously glaring at Charlie his grey eyes like shards of ice. "You are not to go into her room for any reason. And you are to treat Amaya when she is born like your daughter but let her know who Fred is as she grows. That is Rory's biggest concern. As she grew up at the Dursley's she had no idea who James and Lily were, if they loved her or even what they looked like until Hagrid told her when she was eleven and I told her more when she thirteen. She does not want that for her daughter."

"There is also the matter of your mother and sister." Remus started a foul look on his face as he mentioned them. "You know how they are treating her no matter how many times they are told they still continue. If this is still continuing when Amaya is born they may not be in her life as we don't want her to treat her the way they are treating Rory. You can imagine what they will say when they hear you are with Rory, so how will you handle it?"
"I can only imagine what they will do and say and it quite frankly disgusts me if they continue I'll go to Gringotts and get a magical restraining order on them and I won't send them some of my wages to help them anymore if they try anything if and when Rory accepts to go out with me." Charlie told them.

Sirius and Remus thought that over for a moment before nodding satisfied. "You may be Dora's friend from school Charlie but know to her Rory will always come first she is her niece. She wanted me to let you know that. And I don't think I need to remind you what will happen to you if you ever hurt Rory from not only us but Dora and George as well." Remus told him.
"I promise I'll never do anything to intentionally or unintentionally hurt Rory or Amaya." Charlie swore.

"Good." Sirius said happily. "You might as well head back to the shop and help George as Rory is asleep. You can speak to her later tonight when she wakes up. Charlie do not make us regret trusting you with my daughter." Sirius asked. "You will not like the consequences that I can assure you. Don't forget that I, Dora and her mother are Blacks and though we are not like the rest of our family and moved to the light side that doesn't stop our magic from being Grey. Rory is also a Black and we Blacks protect our family."

Charlie nodded promising he would never do anything to make them regret placing their trust in him. Quickly saying goodbye he headed into the floo transporting himself back to the shop quite thankful he escaped without being cursed or pranked.

(Later that evening)

Aurora stretched yawning as she had just woken up from her nap feeling better than she had done in ages. She swore to herself that she would never let herself get in that state again for the sake of not only herself but more importantly for her daughter. Looking out of her bedroom window through her still open curtains she saw it was quite dark and realised that it was nearly dinner time. Stretching once more she climbed out of bed making her way downstairs to the kitchen. As she was waking down past the drawing room she heard the floo go as George and Charlie returned home from a rather busy day at the shop.

"Hello Georgie. Hello Charlie." Aurora greeted hugging them as they came out of the drawing room, trying to stop her blush as she hugged Charlie. "Hello Rory are you feeling better now?" George asked concerned. Aurora smiled brightly at him offering him another hug.
"Yes thank you Georgie. How was the shop?" She asked curiously.
"Good very busy though we'll have to go in early tomorrow to stock up we wanted to check in on you so we didn't bother and we were tired." George said with a small yawn as his stomach grumbled.

With a chuckle he and Rory started to make their way down to the kitchen when Charlie stopped her. "Rory can I talk to you for a sec?" Charlie asked nervously. Smiling softly at him Aurora nodded leading Charlie back into the drawing room after asking George to let her dad know she'll be down in a minute. "What's the matter Charlie?" She asked concerned sitting next to him on the sofa.
"Nothing really I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go on a date with me? We'll go at your pace I promise and I'll even be happy to go to the Muggle World." Charlie asked rubbing hands anxiously through his long red hair.

Aurora was shocked to be honest she didn't actually believe he'd liked her back even though she knew George wouldn't lie to her. "I...I'd like that Charlie. I've never really been anyway in the Muggle World before." She said softly smiling shyly at him. Charlie beamed back at her happily pulling her into a hug. "Okay then I'll ask Dora later on the best places to go. But first let's go and get you and Amaya something to eat and drink." Charlie said grasping her smaller hand leading her out of the drawing room for some much needed dinner.
