Now before this rant starts I want you to know that I don't hate this ship. I should probably rename this the rant book but I'm just gonna put this rant in here. I'm not one of those people who harass others for shopping this, I respect their opinion so please respect mine. But anyway let's get into it So I loved the movie, I thought it was one of the closest to perfect movies out there. I couldn't wait to see what sort of cool fan art or fanfictions there would be. While looking at some spinel fan art ( I do love her) I found some stevinel art. I thought it was kind of weird, but I began to see more and more of it. And yadayada a shipping war began between converse shippers and stevinel shippers, yadayada converse won and the shipping war is over. And just because a ship isn't cannon doesn't mean people can't ship it, technically bispearl isn't cannon. Anyway a lot of people don't ship it mainly because they says it's a pedo ship. I don't think it's a pedo ship, although I'd rather Steven be 18 if he's being shipped with any gems but that's just me. So why do I not like it? Well a few reasons 1. Some shippers make Steven and spinel hate Connie, which literally makes zero sense to me. Spinel doesn't hate anyone except for pink so I don't see why people just say "Spinel and Connie would hate each other!" If stevinel would happen, sure connie might be upset but she wouldn't hate Steven or spinel. 2. In some fan art and comics, they make spinel very different. They make her basically a fuck girl who just wants to have sex with Steven and hate Connie. They just make her different. And for the third and final reason... 3. She traumatized him. So picture this, one day you where having a nice day with your family and suddenly somebody comes and makes your family forget who they are and then forgets who they are and then people expect you two to be a couple..? Don't get me wrong, I love spinel but she did do some horrible things to Steven. So most of you might be thinking "but what about lapis, peridot, jasper, and the diamonds? He forgave them oooo" Rebecca sugar confirmed that he never forgave the diamonds, I mean for good reasons tho. They tried to destroy the earth, shattered and corrupted thousands of gems, and poofed his family. Peridot and lapis never poofed the CGs, even though they might have wanted to they never did. Well jasper poofed garnet and amethyst, but who says Steven forgave her? Yes he gave her chances but he did do the same thing with the diamonds. And at the end of future he did shatter her so... But back to spinel, yes he forgave her at the end of the movie, but did he really? Did he ever say " you can live with us or be a crystal gem?" He never really wanted spinel to stay. And if he generally wanted to see her or the diamonds they where only one wrap away, and spinel said in homeworld bound "ya never call, ya never write" so Steven has been avoiding the diamonds and spinel. In homeworld bound you can see that he was generally annoyed with her and her attempts to entertain him. Some people say that since she kissed him its cannon, but didn't connie kiss him and it wasn't cannon? Didn't Steven fucking propose to her and it wasn't cannon?

Just sayin... Anyway Rebecca also confirmed that they are family. But that doesn't mean to hate on people who ship it. Connie isn't perfect either. But people saying that they need to die is absolute crap, JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE AND GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOR ASS. Saying that you don't like them on your own is fine but why comment on others stories or fan art that they worked really hard on? Again, I don't hate this ship. I do ship it in certain AUs and think It is pretty cute, I like stevinel artists and others fanfics. If you don't agree with me that's fine but please leave me alone, thanks!
