A/N: So sorry for the long wait, my phone suddenly crashed. Also I'll be typing on the iPad until my phone is fixed and it's really uncomfortable for me so please be patient. Finally, I only briefly read through this chapter as it's like 4 a.m here so please forgive any mistakes I may have made.
Li Bai felt...out of it, disconnected from everything and everyone. She believed this is what people meant when they said they were "spaced out".
She remained like that until one of the many servant girls dumped a bucket of warm, scented, water over her head.
"What are you doing?!" Lu-momo yelled and smacked the back of the girl's head. "Are you trying to rip her scalp off? Gently! Be more gentle! And you!" The old woman pointed to another girl. "Do I have to say it before you know to massage Qinwangfei?!"
Li Bai remained still, not knowing what to say through the mix excitement and panic. The girls were frantic as they brushed her hair and debated what dress and accessories would be best.
When she caught the reflection of the crimson dress in the brass mirror, Li Bai was hit with the realization that she would be having sex with another man. Her heart dropped and it felt as though the tips of her fingers were touching ice.
After a bit, she realized she was overreacting. First of all, this isn't her body. Also, she is Chao Shen Qi's wife, making serving him one of her obligations. And third, if she can charm his body who knows what benefits she can reap?
Right, this is nothing to be scared of. Li Bai had a very active sex life thanks to Gu Cheng and was in no way inexperienced in the matters between a man and woman. Right, she can just take what she knew and—!
"Bai'Er," A phantom called. His hands wrapped around her waist, his face nestled in her neck in the spoilt manner he always assumed when they were apart for too long. "I've missed you."
The corners of her eyes burned familiarly. From her experience with Kang Cuifen, Li Bai understood she was missing Gu Cheng. She thought she'd only feel physical discomfort from being with anyone else, but it seemed the person she once counted as another irrelevant existence actually had a place in her heart.
Li Bai unconsciously smiled. To think, without either of them realizing it, Gu Cheng had achieved what he'd always wanted.
"Qinwangfei, how do you want your hair done?"
Li Bai blinked and the phantom was gone. Even knowing he was only a figment of her mind, the parts he'd touched were strangely warm.
"...Qinwangfei?" The servant girl voiced again.
"Just braid it." Li Bai ordered. "And Bengong doesn't want any accessories either. That dress is too much, get my nightgown. The weather is colder now so a robe will be good too."
The servant girls froze. They looked between one another, not knowing how to dissuade the Princess. Thankfully, Lu-momo spoke up. "Qinwangfei, you absolutely can't dress like that, Qinwang will think you're not interested!"
That's the point. Li Bai reasoned. "It's fine. We don't have much time, quickly do as Bengong says."
As though the heavens were on her side, another servant knocked on the door. "Qinwangfei, his majesty is waiting for you."
