Pens and Tests

Virgil hated school, no surprise there. It happened during the day when the awful sun showed it's face and he was subjected to 7 hours of mental torture. He guessed it could be worse though. He had a knack for picking up subjects really easily. Math wasn't that bad, civics could be worse, but he hated English. Virgil wasn't dumb, he was far from it. However, it seemed that the teacher had it out for him. He actually really liked English before Mrs.Smith ruined it for him. He sighed quietly from where his cheek rested on his fist as he rolled a pen back and forth across his desk. Virgil was currently in the middle of a test for said English class. He sighed painfully again before coming up with an idea to entertain himself. He thought back to the "Charlie Charlie" challenge that everyone used to be really into. Virgil wrote "A, B, C, D," on a piece of paper before putting a pen in the middle. He stared at it blankly for a minute before blowing on it gently. It landed on "C," so he checked the bubble off on his test. He didn't care if it was wrong, he had a better chance at guessing than actually trying. Mrs.Smith would purposefully give Virgil tests and work that was way above his grade level. He was starting to get pissed off by it. Couldn't he just get through this year without a hitch? When he looked back at his pen, it was now on "A." Virgil stared at it a bit miffed. He just shrugged to himself and wrote down "A," as the next answer. Virgil felt himself grow cold, despite wearing a jacket. He looked around carefully before tugging his stitched jacket closer to himself. He flicked one side of the pen carelessly. The pen was on "D," now. He filled out the respective answer on his sheet before seeing the pen on a different letter. He repeated his actions, noticing after each answer he filled out the pen would slowly rotate towards a different letter. This couldn't be a coincidence. But what other option is there? There's no way ghosts exist. He's the most paranormal thing he knows. If there's one thing Virgil does know is that if you die, you stay dead.

~~~Character Focus Switch Brought To You By Janus' Tree of Knowledge~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being dead wasn't great. He wasn't in heaven, hell, purgatory, or whatever afterlife you believe in. No, being a ghost wasn't very fun. It's not great being stuck somewhere and not being able to leave. Maybe if he had a free roam of the world it'd be more entertaining. He'd be able to see all the stars and constellations again. That was Logan's favourite pastime other than reading. Rather, it had been before he...  He now roams these halls, walking or floating, in a vain attempt to find a loophole. A way out of here. He usually took pity on those who needed help. Trying to find a book that happened to be sorted wrong? Say no more. The book is now where you needed it to be. It wouldn't be that hard to find it considering he spends most of his time in the library. He could probably tell you each book title and their author in order without looking. Today was not one of those days. He floated through the walls until he stumbled upon an English class. Now, there wasn't anything special about the particular class. The teacher looked like a snob, and the students all looked confused but determined. Except for one. He laid there staring at a pen for whatever reason. Logan flew over and looked to see what was so important. It was a piece of paper with the multiple-choice letters written and a pen in the centre. The student blew on the pen which caused the pen to spin. When it landed on an option, that's when the emo kid wrote the corresponding letter on his test form. Logan read the next question and knew the answer almost immediately. He cautiously moved the pen to point towards the correct letter and watched as the kid wrote the answer down. This seemed a bit like cheating, but a ghost has to entertain themselves somehow. Logan repeated the action for the next question and watched the expression on the kid's face change into one of mild shock before he shrugged it off. The ghost couldn't help but admit this human intrigued him a bit. He leaned over and read the name scrawled at the top of the page. It read "Virgil," he was confused momentarily by the lack of a last name but was snapped out of his state when the human shivered. Logan watched as Virgil's eyes raked the room but didn't seem to notice him. He sighed slightly to himself. He should've expected it, but it still hurt regardless. The ghost continued to help Virgil through the test. When it was finished, he nodded to himself in approval and drifted out of the classroom. Not before spinning the pencil really fast to scare the other male, of course. He swore he could feel Virgil's panic from halfway across the school.
